Change to "(thief)" alert:
« on: January 18, 2010, 12:49:23 am »

My suggestion is that if a person has been branded with the (thief) alert, the alert stays up so that someone who sees the thief running away can immediately realize that he/she is a thief before they get away.

This is an alternative to the alert switching flashing on and off every two or so seconds.

I was never sure - are you allowed to shoot those people?

The blinking is, because we can't do anything else in this case right now. We tested various "information styles", but none of them was pretty good. The actual version is the best. And yes, you can shoot these people.

Could we maybe change it to a more violent shade of red? The kind of slightly pinkish colour doesn't really grab your attention. But then there's the problem of confusing it for shouting. Hmm. Maybe put it in square brackets and all caps or something. I don't know. But it could do with being more noticeable.

Then it can be faked more easy by players with simple shouting. Same goes for it, if we add some other letters or whatever to it. I know it sounds stupid and "I will never fall for that!" but the truth is, a lot people get into this trap-- even I managed it already two times and in normal I always read the message log first.
