SPECIAL & other newbie stuff
« on: January 13, 2010, 12:45:42 am »

Yea so im new Hi! ><

I've created myself a char and i gave it charisma of 2 (i dont aim to lead gangs so so ) but realised most npc's wont talk to me Oo. And while its questionable whatever someting good comes out of talking with them fact that in two towns i only found one trader to talk to me is quite disturbing ...
1)How troublesome charisma of 2 will be ? i can only use 10% of shops / npc's ?

2) Second is agiliy or actually action points - for turn based it works easily but what about real time ? does having better max AP impact how fast i regen them ?

3) Skills : well i happened to find librarian and saw he sells skill books - how is that restricted ? i dont belive you can buy as many as you want...

4)ah - in normal Fallout you had chance to increase your SPECIAL via that machine in brotherhood - is it avaible here to ?

thx in advance

First of all I recommend you to read manual (see the button in the upper right corner of the screen?).

Answers:
1. With CH <3 you won't be able to take most (if not all) quests, traders reject to speak with you, some troubles with gaining professions. But everything is not so bad. You can eat mentats and raise your CH.
2. AP in turn-based mode works as in Fallout. In real-time mode they regenerate while you don't do any actions. All the people have the same AP regeneration rate.
3. Librarian sells as many books as you want.
4. You can raise your SPECIAL only via perks. No brotherhood implants are available in the game.

Books don't serve the same purpose in fonline, they are required for crafting.

Afaik its not true - ap pool is regenerated in same time no matter how much you have. So basicly more ap you have more "ap per second" you regenerate.

3. Librarian sells as many books as you want.
And books are considered as "tools" for crafting certain items. I.e. to make energy weapons you need dean electronics.

it's very important moment
where i can read about this ?
This should not be
Characters with more agility should be a reward for this
On TLA server all APs are regenerates in 7 seconds, no matter how much you have to be

Me and my team have test this before wipe. The AP regeneration is faster when you have more AP, and its REALLY fast with some jet ;p. Anyway, more AP you have, faster they will regenerate.

thx guys i never considered books might be used for something else then rising skills lol

and i will allow myself to quote you Crazy from the other thread as its helped with some more SPECIAL questions ;p

Ok guys, some advices which are usefull for ALL builds:
-Always even number for agility, because the formula of AP is 5+(AG/2): you win nothing more with 7 than with 6.
-Always even number for endurance: same thing, you just don't have more HP with 7 than with 6.
-Luck: Always 1 or 6 (or, sometimes, 10). 6 allow to take some usefull perks like more/better critical, toughness, bonus ranged damage... If you don't want these perks, just put 1, you won't loose anything, and these points can be use in other characteristics. In some builds 10 in luck can be useful: doctor for example: they ALWAYS will do their max FA (=FA skill) with 10 in luck.
Charisma: If you just want do some quest and take you professions level, 3 is enough. For crafters, they can have 1 charisma too: with 1 mentats they can have their profession level. For the leaders, remembers the followers formula (slaves, mercenaries...Smiley CH/2-1.
Strenght: 5 enough for small guns, 6 for energy, and 7 for big gun.
Intelligence: it's my opinion, but 6 is the minima... less is really hard if you want to have high skill. High intelligence often usefull.
Perception: 6 min too, more  for sniper and energy, you can even take 10, max Big Guns range need 7PE.

Traits:
Bruiser: bad choice, -2AP=-4AG, and it add only +2ST...
Small Frame: Very usefull for PvP char: +1 in the special is very good, even if your carry weight become very low...
Fast Shot: Very usefull for big guns, very useless for others.

Perks: Livegiver LvL12 is VERY usefull. Just take it.

It's not quite true.
With 1 good luck every time I critically missed, I get a knock-down or destruction of weapons.
Charisma: .... For the leaders, remembers the followers formula (slaves, mercenaries...Smiley CH/2-1.
For the leaders CH/2-1 is not work.
With 4 CH i can lead/drive freely in an up to 3 people(With more followers I have not tried)

Huh, I have two char with luck 1 and some friends too, they never have these problems more than with a 6 Luck characters. Its probably because you have a low skill: if your skill with a weapon is too low, you have more chance to critically miss/break your weapon. Or maybe because you are jinxed ;p

It's the formula for NPC followers. For example you can travel with 9 others players if you have 10 charisma, but only 4 followers (slaves, mercenaries). You can also lead a group with 4 followers and 5 player.

- (CH-1)/2 is a limit for a number of all followers (both following and guarding).
and no changes about this reported
