Gun runners caravan quests

Hello everybody,

I have  big problem with the gun runner caravan quest.
I did it once, and after 4 tough hours to kill all the sper mutants, I finally got the metal case.
I took my character with 150 trap and did on it to disarm all the explosives.
Here I see a message "the explosives are already disarmed" so from that point I take my character with lockpick (150 + extended lockpick set ) and it explodes.

I really dont understand, the case was lost.
I did the quest again and just got the case again.
Now I am asking you some advice because I spent a lot of time again and i dont really want to loose the blueprints one more time.
Is the quest bugged or something?
What can I do?

just lockpick it and hope it doesnt blow up. i think theres more chance it wont explode than that it will. at least from my experience.
maybe someone else has more accurate info.

Now im affraid to open the case and loose it again.
I had only two character lvl15 and the closest one are my crafters.
