Ok, today, while pexing my energy, I noticed a weird thing: I was dealing 2 times more damage with the magneto laser than with the plasma pistol!
After a short WTF, I've checked their damage:
Plasma Pistol: dmg 15-35 range 20
Magneto laser: dmg 20-35 range 35 (+penetrate perk)

So yes, armor have usually lower resistance to plasma than laser... But still, I do far more damage with a far better range with magneto laser, especially in crit.
Since the laser boost, it's better than plasma.
Its kinda sad, it make plasma pistol a bit useless, while I was really loving this gun.
So I suggest a boost to his damage to make it more interesting. Maybe 25-40, something like that, would be good. Because hit centaurs for 24 with a magneto laser and 6 with a plasma pistol... Proove that we need a change.

Yea, the damage for a laser pistol is quite high considering how cheap it is and the plasma is almost 10x's the price for a little better damage to higher armored units. Does the plasma pistol have any perk?

Not that I know. But yeah the plasma pistol could use a huge boost Really. Its the most expensive pistol out there and it really should be worth its price.

This is where you're going wrong. Centaurs are more vulnerable to laser than most things.

Prices are pretty random at the moment, they will be rebalanced in the next economy upgrade.

Indeed they are xD something like 3k+ caps for plasma pistol i think (correct me if I'm wrong) and 250 caps (again correct me) for laser pistol xD

They aren't meant to be at the moment. We've just had a complete rebalance of all weapons applied ontop of a system that was only roughly appropriate anyway. We still have a lot of work on perks and traits which will affect it again - so doing it now would be a pointless exercise too.
The important thing is the relative strength of weapons ... and that's fine in this case.

Well actually, plasma is more an alternative than a better gun: lower range but a better damage (due to lower DR, so it don't count in bypass).
But, in fact, it should be better, damn, anklav patrols use it with gauss and YK in FO2!
I suggest to keep the price up, but boost a little his damage.

how does penetrate perk work for laser pistol? decrease target laser resistance/dt? coz i didnt notice any difference. maybe penetrate decrease normal resistance only?

Well, we're meant to be moving towards more alternatives rather than one or two top tier guns .... so good :P

Penetrate just does DT/5, its not a massive effect on single shot weapons really.

Piercing due to AP ammo is DT/3, from the weapon perk it is DT/5 still.

thats what im doing. Plasma pistol has like 3/5 of the range of a laser pistol... and the penetrate perk oooh.
