Title: What is the AOE of Jinxed?
Post by: Cultist on September 24, 2010, 07:45:02 pm
Is it everyone on the map, only those who attack you directly or is it players/npcs withing a certain amount of hexes that are affected by it?

It affects anyone directly involved in combat with you.  That means you and anyone attacking you.  It may affect someone you're just shooting, but I don't think so.  I think they have to be attacking you.

Can you prove any of that?

If the person you are attacking has Jinxed, then you have 50% chance of critical miss. This means >2.5% chance of actually critically missing, assuming 95% chance-to-hit, since you already have some chance to critically miss unless you have 10 Luck (though insignificantly low).

If the person with Jinxed is attacking you, then they have same 50% chance of critical miss.

If the player with Jinxed has a friend, without Jinxed, that is also trying to kill you, they do not have any added critical failure chances when trying to kill you, and if you turn to kill them, you do not have any added critical failure chance.

So this is pure PvE trait or thief trait, because if you're going to take this trait it means you'll have 95% to hit anyway or you won't do any combat actions at all.
Usually everyone will have 95% to you in combat, it making you both explode or drop your gun with the same %, so changing nothing, but only if you're always fighting 1vX, where X is always more than 1, so if you're rambo 1 v many, then this trait can be used, but I don't think you'll live long anyway...
So this is trait for PvE because critters miss more often than player.. may be, after wipe they could be changed probably, I don't know.
For tank who's going to burst only in point blank anyway, and going to be meat shield.
For thief, who will have small chance to run away, if someone will shoot him, then miss, and then explode his weapon or atleast drop it, so thief will have a chance to get away.

So everyone is in agreement with what I said, right?  I read it long ago in a post I believe, so I can't "prove" it, really.  But it seems to be the only way it would work.

From my observations in game that's what I thought was most likely, I was just hoping the devs had posted something or you had a doc.
