Title: Should night time be more dangerous?
Post by: Tribalbeat on September 18, 2010, 07:31:26 pm
I think that night should effect players somehow.  Perhaps by reducing their Perception by one or even spawning tougher creatures.  It would add some urgency to get to a town or safe haven while the sun is dropping.  Do you think night time should have any effects on the game?

Great idea, how the hell can we see if there is no light? This would make flares useful as in a way for you to see in the night, and even make FN FAL's night sight addon be useful in some way.

+1

You have to remove player's ability to brighten up the screen in the first place. Just press "+" few times and you got a day during night.

That wouldn't stop any of the game's mechanics though.

But I think night shouldn't limit visibility only for your in-game char.

Penalty to perception=penalty for ToHit, penalty for FoV, penalty for sneak detection. Sound good to me for the night.

One more good reason to waste a trait.
Limit the FoV.
Give miner sneakers a chance.
Craft nightvisions.

Why not?
FN FAL (Night Sight) when in main hand slot will negate PE penalty during night, that's all.
So that weapon will be effective during night operations, may be.. depending on how bad it'll be with DPS.

im confused.. didnt fallout 2 had already had a penalty when shooting in the dark? i remember doing the quest to kill metzer and hes slavers was best at night with FN FAL (night sight) precisely becouse of that.. u had 95% of hitting (aim) next to the church

Day/night accuracy mechanics haven't been implemented (Yet?).
