Title: I accidentally Autorun bot. The whole thing.
Post by: sander on August 25, 2010, 06:46:15 am
Game rules say:
ban for
Using any kind of unauthorized third-party tool that modifies the game memory and/or data files.
My suggestion goes:
-Authorize always-run plugin, or
-Implement ingame always-run mode.
Reasons:
-Aimed-shot-oriented melee chars are almost useless in real-time combat, without this.
-There was such an option in Fallout:Tactics (not sure, whether is it a good reason or not).

Alternative suggestion:
-Expand melee hit range up to 5 hexes(lol).

P.S.: There is such plugin, so why won't you just let it be used? You always can check checksums or something to know, whether is it accepted version of plugin or not.

You must train harder, padawan.

Lol. I've broken 1 mouse training harder. Even when hitting without aiming, it's impossible to hit running away enemy, whilst any other-oriented char have a chance to hit at least once(and start 'combat' timeout). Then i tried always-run plugin. It makes not so much, but it helps to save nerves. After 3 days of nerve-saving mode, my account got banned  :).

Playing melee you must accept the fact that people will be running away, because they know they will get destroyed in close quarters. Is it frustrating?  YES , but the satisfaction that comes when you DO catch that person, and put them on their face in the dirt, is so worth it.

Patience, picking your strategies and fights, and understanding that you will die 5/10 times. These are things that need to be acknowledged if you want to play melee
I don't think I will ever be a supporter of autorun function, to me it just seems lazy...combat on cruise control.

-There was such an option in Fallout:Tactics ...

Don't think it ruined the game too much( i mean combat system... All the things, that can ruin fallout gameplay, was fully implemented in this game IMHO :)).

As alternative i think about asking to make running speed dependant on weapon and armor weight(and probably strength & endurance). Seems pretty reasonable. Why a guy with a huge minigun, wearing heavy metal armor runs as fast as naked athletic person?

Yeah, that's the problem you can't change players speed so easy. Especially in 2d era.
Maybe after WIPE something will be changed.

Devs already have plans. I suggest we all wait for them to occur.
