Title: To GMs or Devs: Why old critical messages was removed from game?
Post by: _Youkai_ on July 29, 2010, 07:19:42 pm
Some days ago, I just realize that how cool was the critical messages.

"You are critically hit for 50 hit points in a stunning blow.
"You are critically hit for 60 hit points. Good night Gracie."
"You are critically hit in the head for 100 hit points. Death is instantaneous".
and much  more.

So I asked myself "Why remove it?"

I asked that too some weeks ago. ;) Leaving out the lines makes the combat text more fluid to read.
But I agree with you - it adds flavor and should be optional for people don't caring about a bit of additional explanations.

Rat critical tables don't seem to be reworked :P And players are very similiar to Fallout 2 ones.

It was too much work to maintain them all the time, especially because combat mechanic and critical hit tables could change again from one day to the other, which would mean that the extended messages would need to be adjusted as well. Also it was bug-ridden anyway.

Does that mean we won't seeing them again?
That would make me a very sad carebear. :/
