Title: Items in inventory boosting stats
Post by: Billy Carter on July 20, 2010, 10:13:43 am
I'm preety sure someone allready suggest that, but i think its good to remind that idea again. I now, i now artifact ar good for fantasy MO, but if someone put good ideas it could be nice feature. It colud be some rare and/or not cheap things. Like for example rabbit paw to boost luck (in my opinion i think luck its kind off.... well "stupid" atrribute enyway, how person can decide there she's lucky or not. Only formula should). Binoculars for bossting encounters (yea, we like that :) it will be alot faster for good trapers like me) maps in inventory for raising aoutodoorsman roll chances, and other ideas that do not spoil world character. They should not boost combat attr (specially based on weapons) only you skills make you good shooter or fistman... but for noncombat skills and attr why not. Maybe someone got another ideas. But please just no F3l abssurd crap like Traider or Craftman suits. That just not like that should be working. Only logical and really handy items.

Your idea is like this: I know all the locations I have just to get there.
His idea is like this: Alright, I'm the first in the whole world to find binoculaurs in a random encounter, I gotta say it in the forum!

:) So who's idea is better ? I think populating and score'ing some chicks its good idea, but everything like that allways be ewentually  rutine. Click, click dialog option, i got plus +1. Finding some rare gadegts is allways a challenge, fun, and reward too. I remember my first special encounter - shelter. That was real something.

Your idea is better. I don't wanna see people going before a war to one place, get their almost free Jet stats for limited time and go to war.

 1) devs are making on 3D so some boosting gear in your inventory that anybody else cannot see is against their idea of "recognize your enemy without awaraness"
 2) drugs have to be nerfed, this is one possible way how to replace this

Why should a condom raise the AC? Why should a dogtag raise END or STR?
Why should a flower raise 10 ac? etc...

I hate the "magical stats raising" like we've seen in Failout 3 on every damn item.
Leave the system as it is, it's good already.

Exactly like that :), Six off them are Things. Its nothing magical, that we be more charismatic, when we got some nice shades, gold toths etc. Like i said - only really handy items. Like Toolbox in game allready, things they actually doo somthing useful.

Some of these items effects make sense actully, as long as it isn't overpowered or unbalanced in the end anyways.

It was a sarcasm, I dont support the idea...

flower in hand - hippie :D
condom - it covers a part of your body (think of chest armors like LA or LJ they cover only chest xD)
dogtag - dunno it would be something of a accomplished training, the whole list was a joke :p

Well then. ;)

Also - remember that it's bad design if a game gives you just + points on one stat without drawbacks.
That may work in the singleplayer game, but in the MMO it will simply become a "must have" for everyone,
so it needs some drawbacks.

Even if it was perfectly balanced it would led to even more powerbuilding... which isnt the aim I guess

I really don't understand why peoples are hating so much powerbuilds.

The problem is not really the powerbuilds itself, but the people creating powerbuild alts for every single purpose, like taxis etc. instead of sticking to one character.

I just don't like the lack of diversity. People are always going to optimise their characters, but you don't tend to see dedicated pistol users or knife throwers or anything like that.

Better traits might change that - of the kind, your doctor/FA timeouts are divided by three but you can only use pistols, etc.

That's why i suggest that. I hate alts, and i just want something to be more handy. I think, problem with alts, for people who dont like using alts, got something to do with no longer existing trait - Gifted. ;) Now its really hard to build char that dont look just like automat with one (and only one) smal bag, still kind off crapy, chips. :)

But the major problem with alts is just ... 21 lvl cap. But only for testing purposes and often vipeots 21lvl cap is best solution.

And i saw once a real thrower. He was preety good, but i have to kill him. But still it was a nice memory. A thrower actually fighting with throwing knifes.... Lord, You dont see something like that often in this days.

would be quite interesting to see that being a viable option in a fight.

Happened to me and Dylan once, he had molotovs and throwing knives, of course there were two of us and he was trying to run away... 156 hp, 50 molotovs, 10 throwing knives...  good times.  He did manage to throw one knife though, 15 damage...............

Give me back my mirrored shades. I had to whack Boss Salvatore and his staff to get 'em. I also want my motion sensor back... you do not know how tough it is to steal one of those from someone in Advanced Power Armor. Keep it canon and real. You don't know the shit I went through to get the Masticator's ear.

So bring back items like sunglasses, wasn't it like +1 cha but decreased pe while in inv?
