Alright so I want to have a character that will just run around the wastes, scavenging and killing people and such. So obviously I'll need small guns skill and Outdoorsman points. But I also wanted to make my own guns and if I already spending the science and repair points for that I might as be an armorer and demolition expert too (oh so traps skill as well). And I probably need some first aid skill. I'm planning on getting all three educated perks which will give me an extra 96 skill points. I cant find out how many skill points I gain per level without that perk and I dont know how to calculate my starting skill points based on my special stats so...
basically Im asking will I be able to get enough skill points to be an effective fighter and crafter?
And if not is it possible for me to transfer items from my crafter account to another account.

I do think that crafting is best left to alts. But your crafter can be your main character until you get a fighter, who will make your crafter an alt. I think it would best best if combat and non-combat abilities were separated and investing in one wouldn't cost you in the other. But that would take a big change.

No.

No.

:D , only agree , NO !

Im a crafter and big gunner, it gets me by, i know i wont stand a chance against the power builds but i like PvE :)
-
Well I don't know about you guys, but my SG crafter is also a nice burster char. Tho, it won't be possible to get Outdoorsman, FA, doctor enough high to become a PB.

Skilled perk = 100 bonus SP traded for 2x educated perk. more than 1 educated perk is idiotism, that perk needs to be reworked.
if i am correct it aint 96 but 74 points.
that means skilled = -2 perks, 100 points
educated = -3 perks, 72 points
also, lifegiver perk is MUSTHAVE on lvl 21, so it would be even less points for educated option
that perk should have been removed or reworked.

Thank you very much for the input guys. I'll be spending plenty of time on that character planner until someone responds to the other thread I posted in so I can actually get into the game.
I dont see the point in having an alt crafter really...

Mistake, 12, little correction here. Yeah, short post, but I couldn't let him take lifegiver on 21 lvl :P

Its perfectly possible, depending on what weapon you want to use. If its not something that aims then you can have plenty of points left over.

The goal was effective fighter and crafter. Unless the most usual (alts) fighters and crafters are super effective then.
Smallguns burster sg3 is possible. But loses to all powerbuilds. Big guns pwns it at close range, snipers defeat it at long range.
Energy/sg Sniper nrj/sg3 crafter is possible. Best choice imo and best for loners. You're going to lack some additional EN, PE or STR points depending on your choices and thus being slightly weaker than powerbuilt sniper but you can try to overcome that by skill (good luck with that).
Big guns crafter is seriously weaker than his alt alternative.
Crafter-sneaker = don't even think about it.
Armorer-anything just sucks.
This is from the pvp point of view, you can defeat any encounters with most crafter-fighter builds but that gets boring fast.

Its pretty easy to be BG3 and a good Minigunner - thats what my first level 21 of this season was.

But powerbuilt big gunner is awesome. Basically all this talk about "you still CAN do it" is pointless. We can cheer ourselves for playing as singles but it's not going to change the math. Besides this has been discussed over and over again, shouldn't be anything new to find out. Apologies for being cynical.

Its possible to build a char with essentially the same combat ability compared to a (non drug using) powerbuild.
Chars built specifically to use drugs are a different matter, these need to be nerfed at some point anyway. 10 minute supermen aren't exactly a great feature

The ladies tell me otherwise 8)

the ladies would tell you that you are a one-pump chump it you can only last 10 minutes if I'm correct.

Everytime ive played this game i played with a crafter/killer and 1 thing i can say is its easy to dominate and get alot out of the game so in my opinion go for it dude, its awesome!

The most effective Crafter + Fighter i suppose, would be energy weapons specialist, sniper or tank, 6 int is enought to have good en wep skill, enought science for crafting, and even have about 100 - 120 fa.
Don't say things you dont know.

well my main has sg 3 and armor 2 and 235 skill with 201 hp thats a pritty good fighter
and for those who say you can only have four professions i joined the raiders then found out
