An easy suggestion which would make car far more usefull: when you have an encounter with your car, only you and your party can see the location on the WM, and not everyone. Like that, you gonna be able to park your car near a town without have it lockpicked in the 10 min, and can still get it back when you die in encounter.

Also, instead of nerfing, how about a boost to car mechanics, and train mechanics. Don't let every single person in the wasteland be able to see your spot when ever you enter an encounter. Be hidden if you drive a car with good oudoorsman. Make buying those expensive cars actually worth the money.
Maybe the pathfinder perks could help hide your car from every single wastelander out there, or as an addition to "Scout" or "Explorer". Maybe add "Cautious Nature" to allow your vehicle to be hidden better if needed.
Agree

How about using the (eventual) scout profession to detect cars in the desert (with perks to add more chances to find). But once again this can be good only if players stop ALTing.

+1 too:
It will stop caravan traps ;)
And I will must create new lockpicker with scout perk ;)

I've just thinking: also, pathfinder perk should work for car too and improve their speed: it's all about find path, so it should apply to cars as well.

instateleport from one place to another much?

This game is based on campaigns and battles.
you want to travel safely, your opponents want to rob you, and come home by car.
the game can not do without meetings and encounters.

This actually makes sense to do something about car thefts, it's not easy to spot a car in large uninhabited area's, it should require a lot of luck, a little skill to find them, and depending on the vehicle a varying skill requirement(Brahmin cars being easiest to lockpick, actual cars being hard to lockpick and hotwire) to steal. Cars are essentially useless when you know you're going to lose it seconds after you leave it unattended.

You totally missed the point of the suggestion. Noone said you could avoid encounter and noone will have any chance to find your car. It will be like radio signals, with only the driver and his party who see the location, and not all the fucking wasteland like now.

i totally want this suggestion to be in game, cars would be much more worth that way, i remember i owned a car and i never used it, just because of being afraid that someone gonna rob me. especially those evil lockpickers.
and i disagree with suggestion of Scout, finding cars, unless you have to go through Exact same coordination where car is dropped and the chance is 50%

no, I fully understood him.
he wishes more safe ride.
it means less possibility for meetings, driving away of car, fights.
there will be players, persons interested to have the protected bunker with all resources, work bench, merchant and window of teller terminal for handing over to the cash on hand. these players of meeting do not need quite.
in addition, if the owner of car and their group will be put to death, then they will not be able to see a car again..

a car can be seen for 1,5-2 sector
once in the corner of map my car stood 12 hours (drove?)
cars on free stands are always subject to the risk of driving away, the more so in the desert.
I can offer an alternative, do a few requiring payment stands.

It seems that this was partially implemented, too!
