Title: Cautious Nature
Post by: co plutonyum on June 13, 2010, 11:46:19 pm
This perk doesn't seem to work good enough (or doesn't work at all). It says it will count the PE as +3 on special encounters for PLACEMENT purposes. Well my PE is 7 so this perk maximizes my PE, but I still summoned in the middle of the combat and/or far from the exit grid. I took that perk so I can run away from unwanted encounters in 1 turn. But even I also have 10 AP and "Bonus Move", it takes 2-3 turns for me to run out. Can you fix or improve this, so it actually works and deserves to be a "perk"..

I've always wondered what it would be like if higher PE and outdoorsman let you place yourself. For example, if you are forced into the encounter, you have no choice. But if you are the one who initiates combat (meaning you have the choice to enter or avoid it), you would be shown a map (similar to the town/world maps in towns) and depending on your stats/skills, you would be able to choose from multiple spawn points. Cautious nature could add one or two places, and if you don't have the choice to avoid, would at least put you closer to the edge.

Cautios nature gives +3 PE if you have an option ''do you want to encounter: Vedaras Own'' message. If it doesn't appear, you don't get your +3 PE.

No, it should always be used in determination of position at encounter, simply sometimes you can get bad roll (or whatever is it) and appear infront of critters.
My HtHer with 1 PE can appear in 1 hex within critters and near exit grid and don't even see them.
My main with 8 PE can appear in 1 hex within critters and near exit grid.

I don't see any difference, probably with 8 PE you'll have more chance, I don't know, but all last encounters with 8 PE I spawned infront of critters or between 2 groups of critters at centre of map far far away from exit grid.

So this 7 PE gap between 1 and 8 is almost nothing, of couse +3 PE by the perk will do double nothing.

Actually it does work but not superbly. I used it, got pk-ed couple of times and despised it, but now I can see it actually works only not perfect. It can not compensate high outdoorsman. I like the idea of choosing place but it should not be necessarily connected to cautious nature. At least not with this description of perk.

For me this Perk got potential, cuz this have affects for our perception( extra bonus) it means we should whit this perk ignore most of FOV effect's!
Most im mean not all cus is to easy but on encouter to our basis PE should be  added "bonus" who will be mainly  helped us to increase the visual range behind...

For example:
My 8PE char can see behinde to 27 hexe's
Whit boost PE to 10 i can see to 30 hexe's behinde.
Cuz i dont have this perk i cant test it. But imho 10PE whit this perk can give  us the opportunity to view from 42 hexes behinde...

Second thing is if we got high PE and perk "CN" people whit this crap right now perk, should have some bonus in the form something like "a message if someone joined the Encounter"

Its all about fun and for useless things DO useful!!

If somebody got some  proposals for expansion of this  Perk just write

Nobody is going to take this perk as long as you can fill your slots with best pvp-related perks.

Yeah perks like Quick Pockets and Faster Healing or Earlier Sequence or Pyromaniac should be possible to pick at every 5th level where you can pick only these crappy perks!
