This question is to the Devs:
Is the fact that cows in faction bases (or at least the 130K one) give hides on death an implementation you didn't mention on the Changelog or is a weird bug?
I mean Gecko Hides are the main thing for making Tier-1 armors so brahmin hides aren't as important, but I was just wondering.

In cave brahmin also gives hide. Of course you need to "ask" for it with bullets.
And it turns hostile after respawn.
Bug or feature, now that is a question.

It is harsh, they respawn and attack you. Try that with 130k and you'll have a nice foursome.

Why not? You paid 130k for a base, then you deserve those respawning brahmin. Obivously atm those brahmins want revange at you for taking their hides ;D

5 min, I believe. I've got a base next to Junktown and went to NCR, went back to the base and they were respawned.
So really short respawn time...

I meant the fact that they give hides on death. This isn't a question about getting XP from them.

I think its perfectly natural...
Like the fruit/fiber plants in base. In fact, imo the trees should be choppable, and you should gather electro parts/junk from the broken down computer. No, seriously.
Should have a longer respawn/should give more CD, so its not a primary gathering point, just when you desperately need a safe place to get just one, just one piece of wood etc. It would be great.

if you think 80 xp every few minutes is a good xping solution you need to get outside in the wastes once in awhile.

Let's have an example, Ziven. If one's got many brahmins in the pen, he's going to level fast. Brahmin's respawn time is 5 minutes, as @iiitachiii said. We're gonna kill in example one brahmin every 10 seconds. That means, we're gonna have to get 30 brahmins in our pen - if we kill one every 10 sec, then after we finish, they already begin respawning. 10s * 30 = 300s. 300s/60 = 5 minutes.
We won't have to wait - only these 10 seconds. When a brahmin gives 80 xp, we're gonna have 6*80xp=480xp every minute, 4800exp every 10 minutes and 28800xp every hour. 210000xp which we need for max level, we divide by 28800. 210000/28800 equals about 7 hours.. Imagine that we've got 60 brahmins in our pen and we kill one every 5 sec - that's gonna be about 3,5 hours to get max level! Now, we also get hides from this. 7 hours = 420 minutes = 25200 seconds, killing a brahmin every 10 sec = 2520 hides. Every 5 sec = 5040 hides.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry if I made mistake :P

you only get one that respawns, it's part of the map of the base.

Floodnik however has a point, the brahmins give good experience for nothing and hides. So I tend to think it is a bug.

Hmm why - we buy a base and we got materials from it ?? But brahmins would respawn not every 300 secs but like 10 minutes cuz Big or small factions can buy xxx bases and level all characters fast

Big factions have armors, weapons and ammo, and it's easier, faster and less boring to go kill centaurs than to kill some fucking brahmins.
Btw they maybe shouldnt give xp and only hide (the hide is the point of have a brahmin pen in your base, would be bad if you don't have it).

80 xp every 5 minutes is pretty much the worst way you could possibly ever level, and 100 caps worth of items is also crap, you could get 10x that in less than half the time easily by lvl 3.

Is it even possible to get more than 5 brahmin respawning at a time? Isn't the outpost the base with the most amount, and that's 5?

yeah, i think its a bug. honestly though it irritates the hell out of me, everyone in my gang is constantly killing cows and sometimes it gets out of control and mercs start spazzing and then someone kills someone elses cow, honestly i wish they didnt give any xp or hides and people would just leave em the fuck alone. waste of goddamn bullets.

I read entire thread and tried to slaughter one brahmin to try it inside my faction's outpost
Right after that rest of the brahmins opened their pen, went out and started attacking me.
Slave guard quickly disposed off of them an i started to wait for the respawn...
More than hour later there's still no respawn... What the hell? ???

they dont respawn anymore people like myself ;D where farming them for brahmin hides so devs made them not respawn anymore. >:(

Hoping they will remove all other resources available in bases. To be able to collect resources in the safety of your own base limits possibles interactions between players.

then i hope they also make base cost less..... base should = safety
besides its only fibers and fruit no big deal there you still have to go out to get ores and such which is very dangerous even with apk protecting you.

Yesterday, on IRC.
Why not harvest the fibers at Outpost to make rope at 20xp each? 90 fibers every 20 minutes= 45 ropes/20 minutes = 135 ropes/hour unless you relog to other characters for more fibers.
That's 2700 xp/hr solo rope farming. Totally shitty compared to hunting- but you don't have to be there the whole time- you can go off hunting as well.
Or molotovs/flamer fuel (more steps involved and have to gather wood).
As for brahmin- i see a way for leveling dogs at base...
Are brahmin detected as NPC or do they count as "Faction Members"?

Hell... i've been searching on this forum by words "changelog" "brahmin" "spawn" and didn't see ANYTHING about brahmin not respawning anymore >:(
Geez... they could at least respawn once a day or something... (that wouldn't ruin the economy)
PS. I'm not Xeon but i'd like my cows back ;p

I think Youkai is talking about pre-march 2010 wipe. Before that wipe, brahmin shit used to cover the whole area of the pen (if you waited long enough for it to fill up again), not just the hex behind the brahmin and the hex of the brahmin.
This thread is outdated, considering brahmin don't respawn anymore, so farming Hides off of them doesn't even matter anymore..

i think that should respawn, but after 1 REAL TIME day. So farming is not that easy (its easyer go and roam around if u know where to find) and its not dramatic like no having more brahmins in your base (because some fool kill them and now they dont respawn)

Or add an option to catch brahmin and ad it into pen as a generic Pen-Brahmin

This is the one I would wish to see. I don't like the idea of respawning the killed brahmins but giving an ability to add more to the base would be nice. Maybe with a similar way the bases can get homesteader or peasant, the leader of the base could go and hire someone to work at the pen and new brahmins can be added in with dialog.

umm, how do you collect 5040hide in five seconds?
