I didn't understand a single thing you said, but using the nature-gifted ability to think logically, gotta say: ''Why not?''. I mean, theres tesla for lasers and plasma. Why couldnt there be fire gecko pelt armor against fire and explosives? Yes, explosives. That way it would give more spice and content in PvP. What skin to use? Simply, the leather jacket! Sounds good for me.

A red version of Leather Jacker or Armor.

Yeah, sounds cool, and add both an use for Gecko Fire pelt and an armor good against Fire  :)

Well idea is v. good. But from what i heard, even recoloring already existing spirit is really time consuming. So we will hear, not until 3d.

or... I misunderstood and you're talking only about using already existing skins/spirits (whatever its called :P).

well +1 from me

Even if we have no idea when this damn 3(2.5)D will be released...

I repeat, why recolouring? The heck? Just use the normal one leather jacket armor skin.

Good idea.

It would be better as another T3 metal armor upgrade, just add the pelt as an underlying layer or underarmor which absorbs heat/explosions :P
Like the tesla has very low explosion protection, this metal armor would have lower energy resistance but great against rockets. All hail psycho.

Sounds good, always the rock-paper-cisor, the good way for balance !

really nice idea and devs can use new *orange ranger's combat armor* skin for that

Post by: Alvarez on May 23, 2010, 04:55:27 pm
Nice idea and it will suit the new Rock-Paper-Scissor rather well, if you add fitting nemesi.

And since flamethrower is only good for PvE due to its range, Fire Armor would be good against explosions, revamped Molotovs and perhaps napalm rockets?

Metal armors are really heavy for many critters and is METAL armor. Gecko Fire pelts should definatly stay on leather stuff.

It should also have explosion resistance, else it will be useless or almost not in use.

since no one uses fire based weapons i find suggestion useless.

Thats what everyone's saying, did ya read the thread?  ;D

Defiently leather armor, not metal. We have enough of that already. It should give a good fire + explosive resistance.
I was thinking about the following:

Fire armor (2 fire gecko pelts, Leather armor, 2 brahmin hides, 3 fiber, 1 golden gecko pelt)
Norm: 20% 2 DT
Laser: 25% 2 DT
Plasma: 20% 2 DT
Explosive: 65% 5 DT
fire: 80% 5 DT

"A complicated armor, which gives it's user a good resistance against fire and explosions"

Fire armor mk2 (+4 fire gecko pelts)
Norm: 25% 3 DT
Laser: 30% 3 DT
Plasma: 25% 3 DT
Explosive: 75% 12 DT
Fire: 95% 10 DT

"Using the good bits from fire gecko pelts, this armor is superior to it's counterparts"

While it looks quite good for leather, it's far from easy to make it. You don't encounter fire geckos all that often. And you need plenty of hides.

since no one uses fire based weapons i find suggestion useless.

You should read the thread.
With explosives resistance it would be a great new addition.

add some fibers too for upgrade

and i was thinkind that instead of leather armor, there shoud be leather jacket, but the armor itself woud have the skin of leather armor
so it woud be something like this:

Fire armor (2 fire gecko pelts, Leather armor, 2 brahmin hides, 5 fiber, 1 golden gecko pelt)
Norm: 20% 2 DT
Laser: 25% 2 DT
Plasma: 20% 2 DT
Explosive: 65% 5 DT
fire: 80% 5 DT

Fire armor mk2 (+4 fire gecko pelts,5 fibers)
Norm: 25% 3 DT
Laser: 30% 3 DT
Plasma: 25% 3 DT
Explosive: 75% 12 DT
Fire: 95% 10 DT

so the fiber shoud hold you togheder

anyway,i do not think it can be implemethed now,but in 3D era, where every armor and wepon whill have his own appeal

I think that 95% res is a bit too much... I know that tesla has 95% against laser, but it's 10x easier to score armor bybass with a laser rifle than with flamer. This would render flamers more useless than they are now. I think that 60-70% should be enough...

There were such ideas posted several times already. Last time it was supposed to be named a 'fireproof jacket' or 'golden gecko jacket'.

Yeah, ok, why not. When the char models turd 3d, there won't a big problem in recolouring a leather jacket/armor (jacket! jacket!  :P). So, lets wait for the 3d chars to come, then we'll have to find some volunteer to make the recolouring. THEN ask devs to implement it into the game.

See ya then.

we already have a useless Ranger's combat armor(i heard it weaker than BA and CaMK2) why don't use this skin for Fire Armor. and btw to make this armor more usefull in PvP i will be good to add a fire based ammo for projectile weapons not only Napalm rockets and flamers.

What the hell is with the recolouring. Just use LA or ranger combat armor, jeez...

Ranger Combat Armor IS recolored...

Anyway, are you afraid of variety?  ;D

dont bother guys. I have witness like 2 suggestions of this matter in past 8 months. Devs allready said many time that they do not plan adding any new weapons/armor, so you all just simply waste your time.

Heck. they dont even plan to add new shit even after 3d eta kicks in. They wish to keep fallout as close to original as possible but still nobody knows their final vision if they have one.

WHAT!

I see people all the time with flamers and grenades. I've been turned in to a walking cinder too many times to count!

I like this idea. If the creature is naturally resistant to fire, it should be possible to use it's skins natural ability in an armor.

You completely blew off the "explosive" resistance part.... :/

Rock...Paper...Scissors....SHOOT!
Lovely idea.

In FOnline, its more like Rocket/Laser/Minigun.

Fixed

Also, this armor could be a good step into a direction where pvp is more than just bigguns and sniping

And also it was suggested to protect against explosisves

To eventually lobby to get something like this put in was part of why I wanted the Fire Gecko Pelt added in the first place. Nothing wrong with adding something extra if there is a genuine niche for it.

Eventually we will get round to fixing up the pvp balance Im sure.

Fixed

Laser > Sniper with new crit tables.

But still Laser/sniper rifle > Plasma rifle :(  Plasma is end tier.. introducing a bit nerfed Turboplasma could solve the problem(or increased range)

WE ARE TALKING HERE ABOUT A FIRE/EXPLOZIONN REZISTANT ARMOR,NOT ABOUT PLASMA RIFLES
