I believe it would be great to add a little spike in the Merc system like paying them overtime so that they remain loyal to you if you don't pay them you they will not follow orders and say someting like "Pay me more often wisejack" and if not payed for a week the Merc dissapear.
More important the merc is more likely it will cost you more to keep him/her. :

Hmm nice idea, and should be too morales like in % example have 100% its good but if he have 20% he have less chance on critical, less max HP (or just he get more dmg)
When you are reading word "Mercenary" what do you think?
maybe sth like that? I'm thinking that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercenary) ;]

It would't be destroying them but perfect the Mercenary ideal :)

:P could a player open his own mercenary agency ?
be it from "slaves" or mercenaries , selling them to other players equipped at the prices he wish .
would it be possible for TC gang to sell militia as mercenaries ?
would it need a base or just a dialogue option ?
