is there a Bozar in one of those special encounters ? if so you will soon see mindless zombies swoping the desert looking for it ><

I think i can say, that there is no bozar.

Not everything in wasteland-life is always about guns, people.

Thanks  :D
And the biggest fun was running back to the tent through the half-map, praying not to encounter ghouls with rifles or smth.
That metal armor II found there saved my life, coz I was scouting without any armor and having only laser pistol  :P

Oh may be, but when I saw vindi my head exploded and the only thing I could think is how to deliever it to my tent. Next time I will search better for sure  :)

I had a bozar just before wipe. It is big gun sniping rifle, no burst. So it could lead to a new sub character type big gun sniper

How to know it's a special encounter ?
Maybe by finding some ultimate weapons there :D
Btw I'd like to sell it, and 350 ammo too. PM me.

And do you see the weapon in the middle or he is oftenly hide ?

Man, you walk the desert, then you are thrown into some encouner and there are no critters there, what else can it be? Different SEs have different appearance I guess, but I dont really want to spoil the fun of founding one of them.

+1 vindicator, was cool surprise.

ive found a few of those random encounters which are completely empty... a player probably showed up or just left. I highly doubt there are any "special encounters" in fonline but your luck will help get you closer to those random big group fights (caravan vs raiders vs robbers, etc) in which the loot would be awsome. Im pretty sure that with a luck of 10 you can find lets say a large marauder group vs remnants of the masters army where finding big guns would be pretty simple... but i aint ever seen no vind minigun or a gauss pistol in fonline yet.

There are various special encounters in the game. Large groups of enemies, who will rape you, are not special encounters.

Can anyone say what requirements should I have to meet "special encounter"?
Title: Re: Special Encounters
Post by: Lexx on April 15, 2010, 12:43:40 pm
Everyone can find them.
Title: Re: Special Encounters
Post by: _Youkai_ on April 15, 2010, 04:20:50 pm
I found some relics  ;D but it's just item for collectors.
I'll post a screen later.

One answer:
The special encounter, has specific areas where could be find?

Exemple: I found a special encounter in a random desert map, has any chance to find the same special encounter in a random map in the mountains??

Does Explorer perk (or whatever that one perk that increases "special" encounters is) affect chance to find such an encounter?

Quote
Nothing really affects it, as it would just lead to farming.
Okay good, after writing this I realized this would only lead to people making an alt to scout out this stuff.

The special encounter, has specific areas where could be find?

My assumption is that the mechanics are like any other random encounter, just really, really rare, meaning that each tile has certain stuff (and some nothing of course). This is just a guess though. I think it would ruin the fun if Dev told us.

so uh how would we know then if we found a special encounter? a thunderbolt with a circle around it ? how about making a wiki tab about them? Spoiler free of course lol but like a list similar to those about fallout 1, 2 and tactics on the special encounters... (i.e Bridge of Death, Crashed Whale etc)

and if possible what items can we generally find? ... it would be cool to be able to come across a trader in the wastes selling crap for cheap but make it a rare encounter where one could find lets say decent items at 1/3 of the price... or a dead hero npc ala the easter eggs from f1 and f2 etc... ex a dead Mad Max with a howling dog that will follow you if you have a leather jacket on or offer it some jerky... a crashed car with a dead deathclaw infront of it and the driver 2 feet from the front of the car implying that he hit a deathclaw and crashed, leaving behind a few caps and a laugh? lol...

or do we just walk into a rnd encounter and find items on the ground?.... we really need a wiki tab on this one...

I think it's meant to be to not be on the wiki page. ;)
It's about exploring for your own. Try to look for yourself. And Lexx already gave some small hints here. ;)
Title: Re: Special Encounters
Post by: corosive on April 16, 2010, 03:19:38 am
uh lol no he didn't. And we all look it's just easier to know if there is a difference in the encounter or is it just a flashing thunderbolt and a surprise inside ? .... .... ... a confirmation msg in the bottom left would be cool like you know "This area looks different" "The hair on the back of your neck rises" "You trip, taking 1 hit point of damage" "You find something interesting" "You can see something in the distance" "You hear voices coming from the north" "It looks like someone was just here" dunno, anything. Immersion baby Immersion!

It won't stay secret forever, secrets do not exist that way.  People like to share, especially with friends, and they share... think of it like a brushfire, or a zombie infestation.  It'll start small but the effect snowballs with time.  Exponential increase of awareness?  Anyway, just try and enjoy yourself while you can, before these 'special encounters' turn from being actually special, to just another farm mechanic, however distant.

And Good Luck finding something.  The loot may be profitable, but the surprise is priceless.

Don't think that special encounter could one day be farmed.
I wonder how much people already found a special encounter...

would be more awesome to just take it, transport it to a base, and use it as a defensive platform, shelling any unwelcome visitors.

Howitzer shells can't be used in a weapon. But you can do other things with it.

Don't need. It's already bad thing that you can read everything about quests there. When I was making quests I didn't even read dialogues or something, because everything in wiki: where to go, what to say, how to say, and result. What a reason in quests then? I hope new quests won't be so clearly discripted at wiki. Especially location where you can start this quest, it don't force people to walk at towns and talk to NPCs to search for quest, because they simply look at wiki and going directly to quest giver and then doing step by step everything what written at wiki.

There always will be people who need data-bases about everything in the game, and who hate this and like to discover all by themselfs. Holywar, holywar never changes.
As for me, I like data-bases :D
Title: Re: Special Encounters
Post by: corosive on May 02, 2010, 09:02:23 pm
the wiki should just be limited to basic info.... doing a quest is all about atmosphere anyways you want to talk to the npc and go out looking for his request then get back to get a sense of accomplishment

but if the wiki had info about quests concerning who's giving it, where and what he needs and a small hint as to where that is such as if your looking for a flower the hint could be something like "It's rumored that the Children of the Cathedral are giving out flowers. No one knows exactly where they get them but speculation hints at an underground hydroponics facility." that tells us to talk to a purple robed asshole or go out looking for something that doesnt exist if the hints would be limited to something similar to a riddle it will prevent quests from being too easy to figure out.
