Title: Slight changing of some ammo names.
Post by: TheWarden on April 04, 2013, 08:18:10 am
I'm a firearm enthusiast, and some of this rustles my jimmies. For example, 10mm AP's crafting recipy is more simlar to +P ammo. Why not change it's name to that? and the .22 hunter should be .22lr, as their's no commonly used round that's known as just .22. I'll add more stuff as I notice it.

Those are just ammo names from Fallout and Fallout world isn't exactly the same as our world. It's parallel universe that diverged after World War II. If it was tactical shooter with realistic firearms about modern times, then it would be a bug.

I understand that for a firearm enthusiast it can be annoying, but the same could say enthusiast of medicine, enthusiast of geology, or enthusiast of anything else. It's just not the kind of game that cares much if something would make sense in the real world. Also many things like names are different on purpose, to reflect that it's a subtly different universe from ours.

Fallout's guns are baised off of real world guns. Their is a real like 10mm. But adding more gunpowder makes it ammo piercing? That dosn't make much sense.

As a fellow gun nut I feel your pain, but that's just how Fallout is.

This is a 5mm JHP ammo recipe from TLAmkII, translated.

"Зафиксируйте патроны на чём-нибудь устройчивом струбциной, стараясь не смять гильзу. Затем обрежьте кончики пуль, высверлите небольшое углубление в сердцевине и загните края латунной оболочки внутрь, сделав в ней небольшие надрезы. Теперь пуля будет разрываться от удара о цель."

"Affix the cartridge on something steady with a clamp, try not to damage the casing. Cut off the tips of projectiles, drill a pit in the core and bend the rim of the brass jacket inside by making small snicks on it. Now the projectile will explode on impact with the target."

I wish 2238 had recipes like that.

Seconded. Ya, the ".22 hunter" is actually .223 but for the most part fonline has followed the lead of interplays original formuls, errors and all.

To whomever said "this is a europene game"; facts don't change to "convinience" borders, and you're just plian RUDE.

It used to be .223 in Fallout 1 but they changed it for balance.

RUDE.

Yes I am.

And the day everyone laughs at your back while "respecting" you while looking in your eyes you'll wish you were surrounded by rude people.

I don't understand how that's "balancing" but ok.

Because multiple weapons used the same ammunition, so they changed it so that it would be easier to get ammunition for the smaller gun.
