Title: DIY Cave
Post by: The Good Doctor on February 24, 2013, 06:04:52 am
Cave was always my favorite base, and I was a bit disappointed to see it was not included when the DIY bases were introduced since I've always wanted to pick the location of my cave.

In addition to the normal base material requirements, it could also require about like ~20 crafted shovels and like ~10 dynamite/plastic explosive since you're making a new cave instead of just finding one and moving in.

Sounds good to me.

PS: You can still buy cave bases.

Who on earth would craft 200 shovels?Don't take me wrong,it makes sense and all,but seriously 200?!
To do that you would either have to be really dedicated or autistic.

Have you made a DIY Outpost, Mike? And that's all I got to say about that :P

At any rate, I would enjoy the cave as a DIY, definite +1

Requiem Have good solution for it. U need to craft minner set (dynamits and some other stuff) and after this u Have to find empty encounter with collapsed mine and use on it ur minner set. After 1sec boom and u Have ur own personal tent/cave.

Nope, only bases I ever made were trapper camps and a scrapheap, the trapper camps weren't so bad.But the scrapheap,my god all those nights looking for junk.At time I thought I was gonna go mad.

This should be lowered.
For a loner, building an outpost is almost as boring as hunting blueprints.

I have a outpost, i'm gonna say JunkDetector eased the grind a bit.

But hey, there are so much cave encounters, why not use them?

wut about hiring contruction people to dig/expand new tunnels? they could use mining machine, then it'd go faster. you mark the spots you want dug out, then it goes there. use dynamite to collapse sections you dont want to use......

...200 shovels...
Sorry about that, I mistyped but fixed it now.
I agree, 200 would be a bit silly.
20 shovels and 10 dynamite/plastic explosives is much more realistic.

I like it except the dynamite part. You need bp's for a dynamite so it would make the diy cave one of the harder ones to make. Also dont forget the parts required to make dynamite also hard to come by.

[the things you wrote]
The difficulty is the point. They could substitute Dynamite Stick (http://fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Dynamite_Stick) to make it easier though.

Allow making Ranger Tents in maps that have caves.

Clear the cave, add containers.
Maybe a still could be added as an upgrade.

Perhaps even allow pitching of ordinary tents inside of Ranger Tent maps, so people could make their own litttle places.
This might be enabled by something like the DIY base procedure.

I think it's a good idea and should be implemented
