make it optional to add nick in radio options so if you send message it will automatically add your nick at end/beginning of message. could be useful.
-
makes sense, you should be able to tell who's talking if you know them
-
+1 rly useful suggestion, i see no flaws
-
As long as it's optional +1
-
Agreed if it's an optional. Something in the transmit feature to send call sign along with message.
+1
-
I second the suggestion.
-
I'm for this. Make it optional, maybe with toggle button on the radio itself.
-
yeah, thats exactly what i meant. you can still use it like previous, but you can also add your nickname or any phrase that will be automatically added to your messages so people can identify you easily
-
Optional? Should be mandatory so there's no more radio 0 spam.
-
it is realistic too. people can regconize thier buddy's voice
-
Now i'll know who i'm
insulting really talking to. +1

I still say keep it optional. Yes people can recognize their buddies voices but that's talking current tech, you think about the radios they're using and the range, it's lucky they can even understand each other. And besides 0 channel spam won't stop, it's the nature of the noobs in game.

I like this idea, this could make a lot of things easier. Could be like this "PlayerX on 0: Hello World!"
It should be optional still it would be nice to have some identification for the gender of radio user if name is switched off (could be applied to shouting too I think)
Female/Male voice on 0: Hello World!
Female/Male voice: HELLO!!!
I think this would be a great addition and would give a better immersion for the game world.

Yes clearly 200 years from now they will have worse radios than now, radio's are high tech sci fi gadgetry and not something that has been around over 100 years.

LMAO you do realize to Radios in game are based off of tech that was a few years behind ours. They still use tubes. And that in game at least most the radios you found were pre-war. Combined with the fact that unless you have access to Vault City, Enclave, or BoS it's not likely the average person has the knowledge to properly put together let alone tune a tube radio. But you are right it is a Sci-fi game, I still just think it should be optional.
Maybe add in working radios in the helmets that say in their description that they have a radio attached. It would be cool to not have to waste an item slot, and to be able to have one on ya when you have your helmet.
-
Actually that's a pretty good idea. I'd vote for keeping it optional wether one wants his nick displayed or not, though.

Ok, I'll explain to everyone who seems not to understand how Racoon's idea would work:
Basically the radio would have another text field, empty by default -no nick/codename/identifier- broadcasted if empty; In this field, you'd be able to write anything you want -from a character to several words-, that would automatically be broadcasted when you send your message;
also an option to send it before or after the actual message would be nice too, like a switch.
It would not, in any case, kill the anonymity offered by radio; just make it faster to use as everyone would want to.
