Okay, I've given it several tries, and even got to level 6 before the wipe. But starting fresh again, I either have the WORST luck or this game is just TRULY A WASTE OF TIME.
I log in today, after giving up all day yesterday from frustration, only to walk ONE tile over, and get attacked by 7 geckos. suddenly, I'm having that goddamn "running lag" problem, and it prevents me from escaping.
FINE. I'll wait the minute and try again.
...Until I realized they spawned me all the way at the top of the map, far from anything I had already discovered. So that's.. what? Another 10 minutes of getting back to the cities I know, with the probability of getting killed along the way and spawned in a completely OTHER part of the map?
Really. You've gotta be kidding me.
So to add to all the cooldown complaints that there are floating around on these forums, I just wanna say the cooldown times are BS, and I thought World of Warcrack was a waste of time... But this? This is just crap.
The idea and the potential is so magnificent, but when it comes down to sitting there, playing this game, you realize you've been playing for 4 hours, and haven't really accomplished much.
At least, that's how it feels for me.
So... <3 to all the devs, but peace the f$#k out everyone.

But seriously, what did you expected from the FOnline?
Now inb4 wasteland is harsh, players being demotivating...
The game is now about giving betatesting and feedback.
Luna, being pissed off by gameplay IS a feedback. Now it's up to devs to take note of it. Do they do it actually? I guess they do.
It's up to us players either wait for changes being implemented or start playing somewhat else.
So, if you're annoyed, take something against the swelling feeling of bile in your stomach, say something like "fuck this shit", make a pause, take a deep breath and maybe come later.

She's definitely fighting encounters in real time. Too bad that she started to cry instead of asking if there is any possibility to avoid lag problem.
Anyway, my dear lady. There is a solution for your problems. go into FOnline folder and open FOnline configurator. Head into "combat" and in "default combat mode" select turn based. It's way easier to fight in that mode. Longer, but more worthy ;] And lag-death-free.

explains everything about this to me. Maybe its just me, but i dont get it whats with the frequent dieing at starts. Since i recreated my char (around 9 8 hours ago) ive crawled to lvl 6 while not dieing even once. I guess i wouldn't understand these kind of topics.

You're right, I am whining, bitching, complaining and moaning.
And perhaps I will try again one day, maybe even go fully turn-based... based on your guys' feedback.
But...
In the end, all I'm truly saying is that this game is not any fun for me to play right now and I'm more frustrated than entertained.
If you don't like my complaints, you don't have to read. :) But what are forums for, but to give your opinion on certain matters.

Click on options in the startup program and go to turn based... Game play is slower but I die a LOT less.

The game is pretty unbearable if you're alone, start schmoozing at the NCR, find people to group up with.
Admittedly, most people will just try and rob you. But there are exceptions.

In fact, it IS their game and they will do whatever they want, even shut whole thing down and go play Hello Kitty Online. Learn some manners, young padawan.
To stay on topic - every game is waste of time, except you won't sell virtual items for real cash. FOnline is hard, Wasteland is harsh, but people are free to choose whatever they want to play.

i know yet i didnt like his answer ... instead of saying "we like the game being hard and harsh maybe its not a game for you" he is like "you suck go play some kindergarten games" .... while its common behavior among players i wouldnt expect that of a dev

I don't spawn caps. My character is uncheated and I lost all my money yesterday in a town due to one person. I was angry and wanted to rage quit and play Arcanum instead. But then I ganged up with someone and we punched Brahmins in the euter. Then we made a tent and sky was blue again.
No seriously. Right now, I have a tent and a leather armor with a sawed-off shotgun without any ammo. But I already know how I will get me some more ammo, without crafting.

aw damn I can add a wasteland is harsh thing: You are killing some easy stuff (pigrats and rats) by hand. Then when the last pigrat is left with 6 hp and you have 8 hp you walk up to him and hit him 3 times with 55% hit chance. First blow does 5 damage and you miss the other 2 :( then the pigrat does 4 dmg on you then 5 -.-''' Oh well, atleast I spawned closer to NCR :P

I actually maintain the game is more fun if you don't craft. Scavenging and doing basic quests is a lot more occupying and engaging. The problem is that your gear remains pretty terrible.
So, please devs, could quests with better rewards when you hit higher levels?

I actually got somewhere last night, playing for a couple of hours. But then I only needed like 200 more XP and I tried shoveling shit, but some griefer kept rushing in to try and steal the poo from underneath my shovel. Then he'd lay "fake" 3D poops everywhere to confuse people.
So I decided to just smoke a bowl and watch a cheesy chick flick. xD

Oh daaaamn. Ok Ok Ok. If you find/meetme ingame (nickname Kharim or Kharaam) I can try to help you with exping, teach you some FOnline wisdom or even support you with a gun and some bullets. This is really no problem for me. I ussualy hang around NCR, however for next few days I will be very little online.
Unfortunetely I won't be able to smuggle you into my gang, as you would need to speak fluent Polish.

Today I've done a little quest with my gang at NCR. We kill some armed tribals who were blocking a railway or something like that. It was very fun but... It take to the fighters 5min and some ammo, and give 1000xp at the leader... It's cool, but a quest far longer, with really better reward and challenge, and a good story would be cool.

Sometimes game is really wasting my time when im mining but come on its not that bad
a rat knocked me down, my brand new armor blowed up, brand new gun fucked up in 1 shot (crit miss), brahmins ganged me, travellers fucked me up, a guy wanted a help to hunt some creatures and i helped then he fucked me up when im low hp.
this is lame but its still fallout we must know how to deal with this things.
only thing I can whine about is crafting & mining cooldowns. nothing more.

I just wanna say that, as a developer, I'd figure you'd be more inclined to encourage and support a new, frustrated player, instead of joining in on the "comical" criticism. But then again, I'm not so smart...even called an "airhead" in the past, despite my ability to somehow find and play this game...(lol...)

If you're not being entertained, then what the hell's the point of playing? Given, my point of view has altered, since meeting several good people in-game and actually progressing, but I just have to relay that, in my opinion, your point is moot.
Also, even if you're wasting you're time playing a game, one of the factors of being entertained by a game is the idea that you're GETTING SOMEWHERE, or basically advancing and accomplishing something...
Or I'm wrong. :T

Well do as I do :P I often watch a movie while im playing (doublescreen and fonline in windowmode), BAM if your mad at fonline just ignore it and focus on the movie :D

This wasn't a joke. You have to test many games, to see what's cool and what not. Either it's Diablo, Fallen Earth, Eve Online or Hello Kitty. I mean, there is a reason that people are playing this games.

Well, I loved this game.
Even though I never played FO1 or 2 be4.
But FOO offers degree of freedom like no other MMORPG does.
It maybe frustrating for the starting experience, but once you find out the "work-around", and avoid the dangers, you will love on what you can do about.
PVP, yes, if you are laggy, (i am, becoz I am very far away from Europe, and the connection to the server is poor), then you just have to face it, you can't pvp properly, but PvE is still fun.
While, there are mean PVP players that hunt newbie for fun, sometimes, you will meet very nice people that can help too.
Anyway, I am not sure what is happening after the wipe, since i am too busy to come back to FOO now, but I am sure, it can only get better.

I find it funny how people run from anything wow like yet its the biggest game on earth. Yeah its pretty shitty but that doesn't mean its 100% wrong and we can't learn from it.

I never did that before wipe (only in last days in PA), and after wipe, because yes, it's time wasting. Don't shovel shit, go do quests and kill though-type mobs to get earn as much XP for critter-type as possible, don't waste "kills" on simple rats/dogs/small scorpions/silver geckos, at begin kill only big scorpions, then golden gecko or tough golden gecko, etc. And you'll see that you can get 6th lvl at 1st day. As for caps, find where you can encounter brahmins, and where're not so many players, or no any players at all, then sell brahmin hides at NCR, or craft ANY items and sell to NPCs, if they have caps.

WoW can be addictive, but in the end, I always feel like I have to do a SET AMOUNT of things to level up or what-not. Like, Idk. It's hard to put into words, but it just feels I always had to invest a certain amount of time to level up, instead of leveling up by being GOOD at the game.

I can sympathize to some extent.
People play games because they are fun. Mindlessly gathering and crafting for hours and then losing all that gathering and crafting time in a battle that lasts seconds is no fun.
I don't understand the direction the developers are going in with the new patch by making gathering even more inconvenient and making the play experience even more frustrating.

What is so frustratin about that you are actually searching for materials, instead just clicking every few minutes on a barrel, a tree etc.?
I agree with that it sometimes can be frustrating losing all your hard worked stuff, but if you know to avoid such unpleasant encounters you'll keep your stuff.

The best way to avoid those encounters would be to just stay in your tent all day long or to just not play the game. I do not want players to avoid battles or to not play the game, on the contrary.
I want the risk of losing your items in combat to be balanced with the time that you put into making them.

Outdoorsman 50 or higher... now your a bit safer. And you dont have to collect junk/elecparts often :S you can get 14 elecparts in one run and if you are careful you wont get killed, I havn't. Wood is easy to get aswell, just find a cavemap with trees. Junk is also easy to get and you can get a bunch of that in one run aswell.

Its never been easier to gather materials, gathering is faster, crafting is faster and you have cumulative timeouts for gathering aswell as the old one for crafting.
People endlessly complained about how boring it was to sit waiting for timeouts next to a barrel, so now you have to go and explore the wastes to get your stuff.
I think the majority prefer it the new way.

Before: dig, wait 6 minutes full of watching Red/Youtube, dig, wait (YT), dig, wait (YT, pee), dig, overweight, OK I'm done, 20+ minutes disappeared out of your life, eaten by YT and boredom.
Now: dig, dig, dig, Hi there bro, what's up?, dig, dig, I'm fine, wanna ride to kill something after that digging?, dig, Oh, I have a place for one more pile of rocks, dig, workbench/tent/base, Hmmm, let's get back to digging business. 20 minutes of playing, talking, collecting itanz and wandering around.
Think twice before whining of how bad and shitty is new mining system.

Ye, I love the new miningsystem. Just a fast question, when buying a mine do I only get normal ore and minerals or does it include high quality aswell. Becouse if it doesnt include high quality it really aint much worth buying one :/

Its just normal stuff. It is actually pointless to do it at the moment because it is not balanced properly.
When it is balanced (Cost vs amount of Ore/Minerals contained in the mine) it will be a safe place for your slaves to work away unhindered.

in the beginning this game is very annoing and very hard to play,but when you got friends (who are trustable) then you have more chance to survive in wasteland and game is more funny and cool.

Yeah, once you know where to look things get a lot better. I rented a room in Klamath, so whenever I die I end up back there. It's frustrating to get back to the real world, but Klamath has enough quests to help me instantly get back on my feet. All towns should be like that.
I respawn in my hotel room, and then I run to Whiskey Bob and offer to arrange the booze order for Frankie at the Den. I go to the Den, deliver the message, go back to Klamath. Get my reward from Bob, which is around 80 caps and some booze.
I use the money Whiskey Bob paid me to buy some beers from the Golden Gecko, give them to Aldo, provided nobody has murdered him. Aldo gives me a pipe rifle, some caps, and a few 10mm. Then I buy some xander root/broc flower from Maida Buckner, craft some weak healing powder, and sell them back to her in exchange for 4 silver gecko pelts.
I then give her these gecko pelts as part of the 'Pelts for gear' exchange she has, and get either a leather jacket or a 10mm pistol.
It only takes about 10 minutes, but you get about 500xp and enough stuff to get back on your feet.
Or you could just be part of a gang, go back to base and get stuff out of lockers. Like the little girly man you are.
