Post by: Petapico on October 07, 2012, 02:14:37 pm: since im new to this whole game, i was wondering if someone can name out the real worth of currency here. for instance, how much is $1000 worth? is it considered a lot of money? i really dont know how to phrase the question, but i just dont want to get scammed or stuff like that

thanks for anyone who can figure my question out XD

edit: when you get killed, you lose everything and your items are unretrievable right?

Yes but if you look for a few versus encounters you can easily steal some weapons for yourself again.
On the note of caps it doesn't matter how many you have. Keep one thing in mind that there are a few thing that only obtainable by caps like mercenaries, cars and bases. Other than that it doesn't really matter how many you have if you already have the things you wished to buy.
If you wish to trade give prices that are close to the availability of the goods you wish to buy or sell.

You can purchase professions for 4500 (lvl 1+2) each (if I remember correctly), cars are very handy all the time (the most expensive (hammer and highwayman) are probably around 8k caps right now. Their prices vary depending on "demand", same as mercs. Bases.. hell, check the wiki. All in all, caps are always handy. 10k caps is not bad, as Roachor mentioned, caps are scarce in the wasteland and at high demand usually.
