Title: Now you see me, soon you wont! Now you have stuff soon i will! Thief profession.
Post by: vedaras on March 18, 2010, 01:46:31 pm
Thief is nerfed, sneak is nerfed thieves are turned into saints who cannot do harm, why not to change that by adding new thief profession. (i also want to ask, to make steal and sneak not nerfed for those who have thief profession, since there will be only some people, and because of that skies wont collapse.)
No further intros, so i begin:

Thief profession level 1. (cost 1500 caps to learn). Requires 70% thief 70% lockpick 70% sneak 4 agility to learn the profession.

Teachers:
Merk in NCR rawhide saloon (the guy who asks you to steal ncr rangers map in f2).
Hub criminals (now you need key to open door, and dunno if they are standing in places like in f1, but they should stand there for my suggestion)
Lil Jesus in New reno.

So i think thats all i can think off to my suggestion, and as i say its just a suggestion so things can be improved, changed and etc. But i think you get the picture :>

You can say that there are too few items, but demo expert can craft same amount so i would not agree to this and i dont think thieves needs many items, they need to be useful! Furthermore, mordinos are faction with just one level of profession (as i know there will be only 1 level of mordino druggist after wipe), so their faction will have level 3 like rest of factions, so it will be more fair to them.

So your opinions, suggestions, flame? :D (and dont forget to vote in poll)

Who's going to want to craft some lock picks if you can craft guns that kill people?

bad idea, i bet if it would be good, it would be already in game, well, look at it realistically, this profession will be abused for ALL people, what i mean is thief gonna create bunch of stealth boys, and then give them to soldiers, which gonna use them and PK... not fun.

lockpicks for a thief, sounds same as your martial arts master profession idea, sorry Vedaras :) im just being realistic, leave stealthboy for good.

stealthboy just add 20% to sneak, it wouldnt change a shit to those soldiers (and uses one item slot dont forget):/ and yeah lock picking have always been thieves skill. You can steal caravan, cars with it, unlock doors and rob people, lock picking for the winners. If you dont believe me, believe holy f2 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Thief

But without PvE, where you can use your lockpick skills, this will add oil in the fire of anger of basic players.

but which opportunities you will have in wasteland, where you can use your lockpics? you can steal cars - but nobody is parking car anywhere, caravans - but players are more carefull, what else?

i like this idea, but without any PvE location, i.e. my idea of caves or whatever, there will be minimal use for this

these huge tb encounters would be very good opportunity for lockpickers, and that is good, less people will want to tb trap.
