Dude, what the fuck? "I'm playing for two weeks now and I have like bazillions brilliant ideas of how to improve the game aspects I didn't even test"?

The whole point of advanced workbenches it to make it impossible to craft high tier gear in 100% safe locations.

Imagine how grateful i was for workbenches in tents.
Now you want ADVANCED workbenches. In tents.
Aren't you afraid that devs might delete workbenches from the tents next session?

I actually have a idea. Imagine, in your case money doesn't play a role. You just need a high-tech item, quick.

In this case, you buy the super tool kit in NCR for 2000 caps, it gets broken, but you have crafted the item you need on normal bench. And it's overpriced, so you lost money/invested some back in the money pool/paid for your snugness.

I'm sure many super tool sets will be bought.

Anything that has large time requirement to craft will be ignored in favour of farmable items. Crafting is boring and shitty and dangerous advanced workbenches just make crafting out of reach of casual players. Dedicated crafting alts should be able to make everything in peace since they aren't pvp builds and this game without fast access to replacement gear just becomes a time sink.

Sorry, I think its a bad idea, you dont have any benefit when join in Enclave or Raider faction besides the advanced workbench

this
really crafting should be done in peace i don't see a reason why we should have "player interaction" (lol i never see anyone when i go to a advanced benched anyway) when we are crafting, we are crafting to fight anyway to get player interaction.

Well.
This is why Gun Runners bench exists and my crafter has a small conveyance company with a Highwayman.
I fuckin' love driving. And crafting.
Fuck yes, i love my job.

ok so devs put gun runners bench in game so we can craft safety but the whole reason of putting adv bench in game was so players could meet and fight(player interaction)  so gunrunners bench is actually counter active to what they wanted.....
so what am thinking is if there is allready one in a semi safe place why not have more then 1 in safe places. i mean really if i was scared enough of the unsafe places i craft (toxic cave and all thoses places) i would just go to gun runners which is what alot of noobs do. so why dont we just not waste everyones time but making us go to theses places and make it so we can buy one because either way we can be safe and craft.
maybe make it that you can only buy a adv bench is you own a bunker this way you have to do alot of work to get one.

Make the Gunrunners charge a fee for using their bench (each time), plus have to maintain reputation with them by doing a few quests a week for them.

Also, that bench could be griefed. Not sure if you lose membership for attacking inside their base.

I think the game mechanics should work something like this:

1. Low Level Players: Suffer / Use benches in unprotected locations. In part due to not having sufficient base coverage on the map.
2. Medium Level, Better-Established Players: Use Gun Runners which is better protected and more convenient than the other locations.
3. Top Level Players: Can purchase an Adv. Bench in base for maximum convenience and protection, but this costs a substantial amount in caps (50,000-75,000) and materials.

i agree, i think when you first start a game it should be hard but after time things should be easy to do so you can have more fun. by the time you go from newb to a skilled player you find alot of stuff boring, so if you need to craft things to pvp because thats what you find fun then i think it should be able to be done fast and safe so you can get back to what you find fun.

You get bored when you have everything and start to demand more.

I like this original suggestion but let's keep some challenge to it. You cannot use an adv.workbench [anywhere] unless your char is level 24 and you have at least three tier 2 professions. You cannot build an adv.bench except at certain bases (not a tent) like Outpost or Gas Station, and only with a team of chars whose cumulative Repair and Science equal or exceed 500. Also yes it's expensive to build one - need to pay some NPCs for specialized service (like a foreman at a construction site), and need HQ alloys and good metal parts etc PLUS some special items like...

* A metal pole (found only in a certain quest, not disclosed here)
* (more weird items not so easily obtained in large quantities)

In other words make it a challenge to get this. Add some quests to this list. Add an adv.workbench blueprint! Make it tough but possible because...

Gunrunners is NOT "a safe place to craft". It's just not. If you go there a lot with no problems, then fine, but don't call it safe - i had my worst disaster there. And i craft at Mariposa many times with no losses so please stop saying GR is safe.

Crafters are not PvP chars, like someone else here said, so their challenge should not be threats from PKs. Think about it - any team of crafters would build their own places to "craft in peace" so that's what our crafters should have.

THE ROADBLOCK: at least 1 developer has clearly stated they don't want players crafting large quantities of tier 2 items. So that's it. If you think "crafting sucks now", then you're up against the people who actually design this game because they want it this way.

I was really hoping they'd tell us why, so then at least we'd know. With that understanding, we might not spend so much time thinking of crafting ideas [that don't fit the plan].

Crafters live in the same world as PKs.
Too bad.

We already have our own places to "craft in peace" (ranger tents, bases, "safe towns").
The technology to manufacture tier 2 is perhaps non-reproducible.
Wasteland Harsh.

"Wasteland Harsh" Slogan of small minded players defending bad design. No one crafts mk2 shit unless they are in a main faction possibly, its too much of a pain in the ass. The time required doesn't justify the rewards.

Wasteland is not harsh; it's the players.

Crafters are not living in a PK world here. PKs live in a crafter's world in this game. It's a crafter's world, and PKs only thrive here because crafters craft. Crafters built it. The developers are crafters too. Thank them for the game. Own any Pancors? Thank a crafter. Have access to an Outpost base? Someone crafted it. So this entire community is actually in 100% perfect agreement on this whole topic whether they're smart enough to realize it or not: more crafting options is better [for everyone].

The addition of blueprints was a great idea because it helps brighten the contrast between true crafters and non-crafters (or casual crafters). But running crafters through a gauntlet of death to get tier 2 items...well...it does not increase playability for anyone. It doesn't balance anything. It doesn't enhance the economy or increase your precious "immersion". The crafting gauntlet doesn't bring more players or enable more items, more caps, more features or better TC. None of those. As it is now, the crafting gauntlet only does one thing: serves the devs in their goal of "no more carpets of tier 2 items".

Bad Design != Taste for a little complexity simulation.
