Title: Lockpick cooldown only after failure.
Post by: Brujah on August 20, 2012, 05:42:30 am
So it's basically this:

-15 second cooldown after successful pick.
-It gets harder and harder to successfully lockpick a container, but you also get more XP after each successful lockpick.
-Failure adds 5 minutes to lockpick cooldown and resets your XP gain after each successful lockpick.

This would be useful in places like tanker quest where people clearly have enough skill to open all the containers easly but have to wait for cooldown anyway.

Brujah is right. A lot of people is pissed off when they have to wait fucking 2 minutes of cooldown. Would be great if someone could change it.

Make 5 minutes after failure will piss us even more.

A lower cooldown would definitely be better. Currently it's annoying.
Make the cooldown skill dependant like with FA and doc.

Precisely.

This way the change would benefit all players and not just those who are so far behind everyone else that they still have to grind boring quests.

A support perk that reduces the lockpicking cooldown by at least 50% would be nice too.

Ain't "Master Thief" support perk was meant to half the time out for picking locks. I mean it doesn't but I remember it was mentioned that it was meant to halve the time out on that too just like its description says.

Make 5 minutes after failure will piss us even more.

3 successful lockpick + 1 fail = 5 minutes and 35 seconds cooldown.

3 lockpicks without fail with current system = 6 minutes.

With the cooldown I'm suggesting is really the player's or bad luck's fault if he fails hard enough for CD to be a problem.

Make this support perk work and it will be much better. And maybe change requirements, so a person without Thief skill but with high lockpick can take it.

... untill lockers are fixed and dont have over 300 skill needed to pick them this suggestion will never work.
if you get a locker with over 300 skill and you only have 300 skill then you will fail and fail and with 5 min cd timers for this people will get very very very pissed off.

Not sure how it is for others, but for about a week I'm suffering from a lot more failures. Eventhough I have 300 lp.

As for needing more than 300 lp, it isn't a problem as long as you don't need more than 300 + expanded lockpicks.

Would be good with:
-1 minute of cooldown after failure.
-no cooldown after succsesfull lockpicking.

i dont know if i like this idea, cant have some pro locksmith running around locking all of the doors in town for shits, and grins XD

that being said, i think most of the cooldowns in this game need to be toned tf down, you shouldn't have to wait 12 minutes to do anything in my opinion.
