Reclassify throwing knife so that it doesn't negate perks that require hth.

Make THROWING Knives a HtH weapon? hmmm... maybe there is a reason why THROWING knives
are called THROWING knives, and there is a Throw Combat skill, this is a terrible suggestion btw

Yeah you throw it, with your hand. Hence hth. These perks work while holding a knife but holding a knife with a smaller handle breaks them. Reclassify rock as an unarmed weapon while you are at it. This change would give hth builds a ranged option that is short range and viable, tknives need a buff since they are such ap hogs.

Using this logic grenades should also be hth. Also you use your hand to fire a gun, why not make that hth too?

They use more AP because you throw them.

Which is a good idea but only with reduced damage.

Muscle propelled projectile vs explosive propelled projectile is why spear for instance is hth and can be thrown while a gun isn't. Knives do damage based on kinetic energy generated by human muscles, grenades are explosives.
How much time it takes irl to throw something is irrelevant, this is a combat system not a simulator. That being said people can throw knives very quickly.
Hth could use a short range variant because we all know how frustrating chasing some asshole for 6 seconds till he runs out can be, range is everything in this game. Being able to switch to a knife to cripple a runner would be perfect.
I agree about being able to stab with them, kind of stupid that you can't when the spear already has that mechanic.
As for stalker, there are too many categories that overlap and serve no purpose since we have such limited amounts of sp. Melee/unarmed could be merged and it would only change having to chose which weapon to use endgame. Who cares if it has the word throw in the name, as I said before spears are melee weapons that you throw. A throwing knife is just a smaller version of the same kind of weapon.

Eh, I really like this suggestion tbh, it would improve melee fightin' and make it different than unarmed.
But sadly I must say that devs won't realise this (and many others) suggestion. Maybe because they are afraid of changes-or maybe cus there would be lot of players who won't like it, got no idea.
Anyway, addin' melee mode to t kinves could be REALLY nice thing.. yes.. I know.. I've already said it

all it would change is how perks interact with the weapons equipped, throwing skill would still determine accuracy.
