a friend of mine told me that in SDK there are caravans
as quotet from my friend, here are the featchures:
They tell OK we move from <this city> to <other city> and tell you the time for you to come when you move out with them.
Then you wait for the time and move with caravaneer and guards(in SDK in CA 7 guards with laser rifles) over WM, encounter something and kill it.
When you get to <other city> you get exp and money.
In SDK it's a lot of exp and money.
Depends on your level.
More people go with same caravan = less guards.
Caravaneer gets killed = you pay money.
why is not in 2238?

This feature is definitally in the top one of the features that EVERYONE want to use in Fonline 2238.
-
It would be nice to have this.

I like it...we need more quests like this here...

Easy exploit.I m pro this too,but i guess devs are not because of making cash to accessible.Anda that means zillion mercs everywhere for holy lulz.

It does not necessarilly need to be cash reward. Also, you could scale the reward by the difficulty of the trip.
Also, it could be an alternative for travelling alone on the WM. Better and more fun, than trains.
Caravan with 100 OUT big reward, 150 OUT small reward, 200 OUT no reward, 250 you pay a little for the travel, 300 OUT, you pay a lot. Exact numbers can be altered.

Its not about traveling, it is about protecting their caravan. Why should you pay for this?
And even with 20 OUT you can get your own caravan and avoid 95% of encounters.
-
How about this:You pay depending on your gear-bluesuit and low level armor and broken/near broken armor would need to pay (Youre an guy who need protection) while high tier armor can be hired for protection and get some money-it sounds good to me.

FOR NO EXPLOITS ADD:
1.24 lvl req
2.once you wipe out caravan or pc which tagged you / come by radio signal wiped out caravan enco you cant work for ANY caravan company (crimson, etc.)
3.caravan rep, low money reward, low rep reward tasks before hardcore caravan quests
4.
5.etc
add suggestions and possible exploits to fix list and add caravans to 2238
-
I am not for the lvl 24 requirement. It could be fun to pex during those caravan trips.
The only exploit specified was about merc. What about limit the number of these mercs on each caravan ?
-
Level 18 requirement, with level 24 allowing more challenging runs with better rewards? Maybe make a small possibility that the reward for a lvl 24 run is a blueprint (but make sure that only a small sub-set of BPs is possible so that hunting is still viable).
Make sure income/hour for this is at least a bit better than spear crafting :P
-
What exploits are you talking about?
Killing the caravan drivers? If you do so, you wont be able to do another caravan run.
Making lots of caps? There could be only 1 caravan run per 2 game days (thats one run every 144 minutes).
Any other exploits?
-
Is gaining caps a thing we're not supposed to... :-[

Well, the point is, that you could choose (your gear or other stuff could alter options available) whether you want to be a passenger, or rather a caravan guard. So it would be viable for higher levels for XP, money, fun. But also for low levels/non-combat characters, who just want to travel safer and are willing to pay for that.

1. low level characters can only be passengers
2. im for huge reputation loss (sometimes it can happen, that you accidentaly hit someone) also unsuccesfull stealing/lockpicking (you migh as well end up in jail after the caravan reaches its destination)
3. yes, make it a new NPC faction with some progress (harder for better reward) depending on your rep
* non-lootable members of the caravan
* disable distress signals from caravan-encounter locations
-
The quest should require two parties,
A caravan party, and a raiding party.
For example...
Every hour on the hour, between junktown and hub, there is a meet and greet between AI Carvan, and AI Raiders... you can make it a random spot, just so long as the encounter occurs.
You go to town, or a raider base, and can either Join the caravan, and win defending it against what will likely be AI... or you can join the Raiders, and pillage the convoy which will likely be AI as well.
But...
There's always the chance PLAYERS will be in either party. mixed in with AI NPC's etc, etc. in TURN BASED combat, so even damn blue suits have a "chance".

non lootable is not great
i think 24 lvl character is not that bad req for grab loot from 9 caravaners in hq armor and some rare weapon
-
Not all of us have 24 level characters
-
It has to be something everyone can participate in.
-
Simple:
1.Ask NPC for caravan job
2.Get job
3.Go out in the wastes with the caravan
4. If you and caravan leader survive(and if you don't bail) you earn 100 caps.
No need to further complicate
The more the players the more the guards.
-
Better:
1. Ask NPC for Caravan Job, or NPC for Raider/Slaver job
2. Get job
3. Go out in wastes and defend/attack caravan, that may or may not have other players present
4. If you and the Caravan leader survive, or if you and your raider leader survive, earn 1000 caps (100 is a JOKE.)
no need to further complicate
The more players, the more guards/raiders.

1000 is a bit to much how about we do the same rewards as in fallout 1 and 2
For example: Crimson caravan company used to pay 600 caps for a single run and Far go used to pay 400(In fallout 1)
-
Oh come on. All it has to be is like an Encounter with an Group of Friendly Guys and Raiders. Not more, not less. If you arrive you will get like 700 Caps. Whenever anyone of the Caravan died, your price will be decreased by 100 Caps. And if your Route is very long you get more Caps.
And when the Caravan has gone it's way, the Guy will wait 1 Hour, then Head back, and everyone who was on the Trip can follow back for some more Caps.
Alright?
-
Sorry...
I'm voting for bloodshed. :P
Or... the atleast the possibility of both Raid/Defend options, to even the excitement and possibilities, even if it's just a random encounter.

The fact that there isn't a caravan everyday add the necessity of a better reward for the trip.
About the requirement, i don't think it is fun to grind a character to get a minimum level to do the quest. One should be able to level up during the trip.
But i am not agains't a reputation system, like the slavers quest, to make you do some other things for the caravan owner, so he still like you. (and maybe he could choose those who have better reputation, if there is too much guard candidates)
