Title: Translate something into Russian for me
Post by: Stration on June 28, 2012, 10:21:08 pm
if you need some translation better than from google post what you need in russian here, u ll get american-native-tribal-english from me :D
Could you translate something into Russian for me instead? Just a few sentences that I used quite extensively while playing FO:2238 and always felt I should be saying them in Russian so that my victims can actually understand them:

1) "What would Comrade Lenin say?"
2) "This is no place for your kind, Comrade."
3) (said after looting a player's corpse) "Not even a radio?"
4) "You sure suck at this game, Comrade."
5) "You must be new here, Comrade."
6) (as a response to some dead Russian lying on the ground whining) "Yes, Comrade, squeal for Mother Russia."
7) "I apologize, but I am afraid I do not speak Barbarian."

Take your time, I probably won't need them until after the wipe.

To paste the Russian texts in FOnline:

1. Create a txt file and change encoding to Windows-1251 (in Notepad++: Encoding -> Character Sets -> Cyrillic -> Windows 1251).
2. Copy the Russian text from the forum and paste into the txt file. You should see Cyrillic in Notepad++ if the font supports it.
3. Change encoding to ANSI (in Notepad++: Encoding -> Encode in ANSI). Now you will see some garbage.
4. Now copy the garbage from Notepad++ in FOnline chat input. In game the result will be Cyrillic.

seems i have to trust that some russian dudes know a bit english, a pity.
maybe should learn russian language, seems interesting.
its also interesting to die because of no communication at all.. but less

<edit> oh wait..
wasn't it easier in a earlier season to just paste it in from anywhere? i miss some changes.
what you propose there looks eeeh.. complicated..   :'(
<edit2> ok, maybe first read and then post. it looks like you can make it once and just make a note behind, what is what and that's all. thanks :)

Example from Bambi translation:

English: This is no place for your kind, Comrade.
Cyrrylic: Нет тебе здесь места, товарищ
Garbage: Íĺň ňĺáĺ çäĺńü ěĺńňŕ, ňîâŕđčů

Would be nice if it was provided this way for further translations.

Jovanka, from first i read this is hardcore way of use notepad, because of save file as... then open :D
and copy past here

also garbage for me is on eurogliphs :D
and win xp is absolutelly not support hardcore font providing - in result almost all russian is eurogliphick text
so that *garbage* needed here ?

for example for russian people which dont know english this woud be nice if they meet people instead of buller rain by :
Nobody expects the spanish inquisition
and then bullet rain

in international language this is totally nice

for ruskies : наше оружие неожиданность, неожиданность и страх, страх и неожиданность, єто два наших оружия, плюс безжалостность. три наших оружия. страх, неожиданность и безжалостность.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...

That "garbage" is russian text written in Windows-1251 encoding, if you have other encoding in Windows you will see "garbage" because characters are interpreted as differen characters, not Cyrillic. Russians probably don't need to convert it in such weird way, because they have Windows-1251 encoding in Windows already - but they aren't the ones that need a translation.

"Yes, Comrade, squeal for Mother Russia."
            "Товарищ, здесь вам не Москва"
I laughed at this, as it barely even translates in that. ;D

Thanks but Google Translate does terrible job in translating. It's OK if you translate from the language you don't know to your language. For yourself, not for someone. It's not suitable if you want to translate some nice one-liner to a language you don't know. The result can be ridiculous. So thanks very much and don't post here again if you have nothing valuable to add, OK?

This is one of the funniest topics I have seen recently ;D

If you are experiencing problems with converting of one type of encoding to another, then you may try to use the following (http://translate.google.ru/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=ru&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.artlebedev.ru%2Ftools%2Fdecoder%2F) service. Sometime it's pretty helpful.

P.S. Don't believe to the Google translate. In the most cases, it's changing the meaning to opposite.

ahahah nice one,
the google translater just said your translation for

"I really like your Cyrillic letters" -"i love russia and cyrilic alphabet"
""oh shoot first? surprise surprise!" - "shot me please!"

made me laughing hard. :`)
either you trolled me the hard way or i just can't use sloppy google translator for russian language.. heh.

"I really like your Cyrillic letters" -"i love russia and cyrilic alphabet"
""oh shoot first? surprise surprise!" - "shot me please!"
But that is exactly what Graf wrote. o.O
As for the second sentence, punctuation, there are commas in the sentence. I personally would prefer "Застрели меня? пожалуйста!". Note the question mark.

Прости, я варвар, а потому не могу с тобой говорить.
Oh Graf, you troll. ;D
Also, isn't "I apologize" translated into "извините"?

Maybe because he is russian and your latvian?! :)

""oh shoot first? surprise surprise!"
"surprise surprise" was meant as "what a surprise!" sorry my english/russian
пожалуйста!
means something similar? :) google says it means something like "You're welcome/no problem"

I see correct translation in Pushkin's language here, nice one.
Recommended to use before bullet rain in encounter with russian players

Like there is no way you can learn Russian in Latvia. :P
"surprise surprise" was meant as "what a surprise!" sorry my english/russianmeans something similar? :) google says it means something like "You're welcome/no problem"
Well, the fact is the current translation Graf gave you translates more like into "Shoot me? But please!" (meant to be ironic/sarcastic/something (a taunt)). The word has two meanings. In English you either say "Will you shoot him, please?" or "No problem". In Russian you use one word for both situations.

A more direct translation I could make up sounds like this (Please note, my Russian knowledge IS limited and MAY BE INCORRECT): "Хотел застрелить меня? Какой сюрприз!" Which translates into almost the same thing you asked for "Wanted to shoot me? What a surprise!" I can't really think of a closer translation to what you asked, but that's just me.

Just my 2 cents.

Nah, it should be read: Я пришёл чтобы надирать задницы и жевать жвачку. И жвачка у меня кончилась.

thanks for the detailed explanation haraldx :)
since this thread seems very useful for the future, it would be nice to get this translated:

"this cyrillics reminds me to some weird things." - while looking at the cyrillic mumbling of two russian.
"stop that! i'm not from poland!" - while in bullet rain.

thanks.
