I assume most of you have been playing Fallout since it came out like me. What about fonline? Do you guys remember the early days?
I recently downloaded Fonline to start playing again for the first time in what seems like years. Fonline has to have about 3 or 4 years old no? I havent touched the game in over 2 years, hope its still a fun ass game, although kinda worries me the topics on the forum though. Game seems fine although empty.
How many people here remember the beginning? Spawning and respawning in "hell", a one room spawnfest of people from all nations mostly russians though, that pretty much turned into a jail where the most vile things happened and leveling up was easy. There was a turret that killed people who didnt walk or sneak by to exit the jail, not to mention campers who usually ended up getting mobbed by 20 blue suits.
I remember how fun it was that not everyone spoke english so the game had a different feel than others, you had to find your own kind, and speaking various languages helped out alot.
5 way gang wars in the "drop" points, dont know if they still do drops. THey were free advanced equipment dropped off in remote places every 2 hours something like that. So everyone would have a goal really even the low levels came in to steal stuff in the big battles.
I remember having combat armor and gauss rifle and just storing it in base with 20 mercs guarding it lol.
I think i remember you could stumble on to enemy bases in the waste, or have a traitor bring you there. Looting enemy bases was the ultimate win, camping in there even funnier.
Cant even imagine how much weed I went through when I was playing this game.
Heres to hoping its still good and doesnt die! Fresh blood will always come, and old players will get the taste back.
Anyone from those days still around?

You're speaking about the TLA I bet, because there was hell, drop spots.
Playing this game? I never felt like playing it, more like having fun with friends, and testing the things out, finding bugs etc.
This is just uncomplete and cannot be said you're realy playing it ;p.

I just figured out how to play it and now the game is already dying. That's sad, but nothing i can do about.

I hav played for 2 and a half yrs. Will i stop, nope, i play this because of how much I Love FO1 and 2.
Its dying because PVPers think TC is the only form of PVP.
And the fact, it acutally takes some work and time, to get some combat armors (100 det) ones or the like.
The most annoying thing to me, is things like the tribal encs that just do nothing, reported fucking eons ago, STILL NOT FIXED!
Thats my 2 cents.
EDIT: Too the people that say they have stopped playing, If you visit this forum and make posts, then you havnt quit.
Stop acting like its some kind of achievement to say u dont play anymore. LAME.

I started playing around September 2009. Registered to the forums few days after it was set up I think: 22.12.2009.
Currently not playing the game at all. Waiting, if the game becomes more interesting after next wipe/update. Meanwhile trying to keep the FCP up-to-date for the guys who are still playing.

Think I first downloaded in September '09, played a bit, then got back into it around November/December.

I'm not sure of the exact date but it was before we had our own forum. Much has changed and the last couple wipes have taken alot of the fun out for me. I'm not in much anymore.

I've been playing for 38 minutes but before that i played for over 6 hours.

Found the game last year in late summer, AD 2011. Love it. And no, this game is not dying. It's alive and well - needs updating yes, but it's being discovered by people all over the world.
The 2238 definition of self-centered: "When you think the game is dying just because some people quit, yet you hang around in the IRC and the forum and complain about it rather than help new players get started. When you do find them, you murder them and then wonder why so few people here. Meanwhile some of us know the game is not dying - we're still playing it as we can and loving every minute of it, grumbling about the bugs but never quitting."

2238 forum is the best for english community at the moment, that's why a great portion of players who do not play 2238 anymore still " hang around." I'm personally not waiting for any updates, i know there won't be any for a very very long time. Players don't hang around just because of love of 2238 server, but for the community around it.
and you know what i noticed ... players stoped whining. I mean sure you hear the usual - an update is needed. But now instead of players actually pointing out features what needs to be fixed, making topics and a lot emotions on top of it, all i see is just ... some guys pointing out that this server is dead. Tell me if you can figure out the difference. :)
Of course 2238 is only relatively dead. The server is running and some small amount of players keep rotting ... and that's it ... for me the magic of fonline is gone.

Its the player killer gangs that ruined this game, constantly killing bluesuits, new people stop playing because of it. Having no other style of play other than shoot on sight, its an RPG u know, its not a deathmatch game we arnet playing Battlefield or CoD.
The possibilties of this game are limited by the players and their imaginations.

Don't be delusional, TC and some reno fights haven't ruined the game, it's just something so ridiculous and unbelievable to hear. Fonline itself is player unfriendly. I mean what do you expect, for 200 players to stay in character and all act as like some carebears, i don't know how you but i ain't living in happy land. I'm sorry.
The possibilities are limited by ingame features and mechanics, not only your wild imagination. I'm not going to imagine that i take a city, i want to actually do it! Now that there are practically no major gangs left and the server almost deserted, tell me if it's any better to play?
Do you know what i think? I think your mind is in a box, because you see if there weren't features like TC, hinkley, generally the freedom of this game, i don't think i would have sticked around anymore than a month or two. Get bored and leave, after that good riddance.

There are no RPG elements in this game, another delusional thought, unless you imagine that it has. Have you forgot that each potential person you meet ingame is most probably the same person with just a different alt for some single minded purpose, who is most probably going to grief you without any consequences? Trust me, there is nothing but the game mechanics and features to blame.

Those who dont pay an entrance fee get shot. or something that constitutes an RPG. I also applaud that little gang in reno. Instead of crying about shit, he is actually doing something, he should pick an area of reno and own it. Try get most of the PVPer Gang to do something like that besides pulling the trigger,.......HAH!

OK you have taken city, then what? kill all who enter?
Theres more to taking a city than just killing all who enter. Did u by any chance play during the WWP project? Redding was the best place to be for quite awhile.
I remember once a particular gang had control of redding known for killing on sight, i went there to mine and about 5-6 armed men where in the mine, they where taking 2 ores from all that entered and mined and killing those that try to flee without paying. Now thats some fucking Role-playing. Seeing things like that in game is truly epic. Instead of killing a BS for his sledge, they could be milking people.

I played for about 4 months after the aug 2009 release. The good times i had in the game are unforgatable. I loved the game, but the blue meanie hasnt stepped into the game is almost 3 years. I think about starting back occasionally, but i know without my former posse it wouldnt be the same. Les stroud, jack daniels, and pablo were 3 impressive amigos.
