Title: Anyone up for Diablo 2 Multiplayer?
Post by: Surf on June 03, 2012, 03:25:10 am
Hey.

I have been playing Diablo II again for some time now lately, user Simon is up for it too. Would anyone else here be interested to join our little party? :)

Lets party up guys for some d2 play throughs. One thing to note is that at the moment we are playing on tcp/ip on the OPEN battlenet so if you have a single player character, you can still use that just fine but maybe we will switch to the closed battlenet servers. Also we are using patch 1.13d (The latest)

So I heard you like lags and server queues in a singleplayergame, also WoW graphics?

Besides, I don't know what this has to do with this thread that is labelled "Diablo II".

Anyway, I have found my old Expansion box and thus have my original cd key back, we could also play over Battlenet. I started a game with Simon (over TC/IP) and we wanted to pull his character to nightmare difficulty, but apparently he didn't get any xp when I killed all this shit. We need to start on battlenet then. :o

If you're using the expansion pack I reccommend PlugY Survival Kit add-on. It provides you unlimited place in the box, so now you can collect the set items as well. It also provides a global box, where you can store the items for all your  D2 characters on your PC. Next interesting feature is the unlimited statistic / skills reset which is freaking useful in Nightmare / Hell levels or helps to improve your build. Other features which could be interesting for you is unlimited access to the Secret Cow Level, even you kill a Cow King and the access to the Uber Tristram.
You can download it here: http://plugy.free.fr/en/index.html

Unfortunately plugy doesn't work on the latest patch, headshot. :< Thanks anyway!

And as said, we can play in closed battlnet too, now. Would be good if anyone interested sends me a PM and I open a small channel where we can meet to share the characternames etc. I would start a new character too then so we all have the same starting levels.

A nostalgia boner made me play it again, if anyone wants to play it over Hamachi (version 1.13) just let me know, sadly I don't know anyone who still plays this game.

I am, however, still quite low level, 25 or something, like I said I just restarted playing (playing solo using the "/players 8" command makes you level quite fast).

Why Hamachi? Why not battle.net?

I lost the original CD years ago, I might buy the game again but I have no clue how D2's Bnet playerbase is right now.

If there is already a thread for a relatively small or offtopic question, then yes.

No way man! On the long run, when it's easy enough for you to get any items you want d2 classic is the only way to have any fun. Hardcore ofcourse, because fun is never really fun if it isn't annoying too.

I'm currently doing a hardcore run with some american kid I met on a server.

Expansion items aren't really that OP compared to the annoying enemies it adds, it's pretty easy to die against those teleporting demons shooting fire everywhere while catapults rape you.

The expansion boss is a wuss compared to Diablo though, that's true.

Hmkay :)
I have to disagree here. Considering runewords, every character the ability to tele, bo, +skills and have amazing aura's increasing damage, defense or even lowering enemy resistances. Considering charms, with life, resistances and +skills. Nothing is safe from LoD characters, whereas in d2 "classic" nothing is overpowered to the extent of LoD.

I'm not saying LoD isn't fun or shouldn't be played, just that the challenge factor is reduced to zero when you get rich enough. Also, it's fun in d2 "classic" that the best items are still the yellow ones with random godly rolls. You know, the ones in LoD which are almost without exception Charsi-Food ;)

Hm, do you know any mods for better resolution in d2 cause it's hard to play with 800x600 when you have 1920x1080

Lord of Destruction expansion allowed you to play in 1024x800. Still, not much of an improvement, but it's better than the 800x640.
