1. Download 2238 client and unzip in empty folder: http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,22146.0.html

2. Copy master.dat and critter.dat into data folder OR run FO2238Config.exe and in DataFiles tab specify paths to master.dat and critter.dat.

From Fallout 2 disk or fallout.dat (http://svn.xp-dev.com/svn/fonline_sdk/Client/fallout.dat).

Dude. Forget about TLAMK2 you installed. You can as well delete it, if it confuses you too much.

Follow 2 point instruction from http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,22146.0.html

It's 2 points. It can't be made any simpler.

Read FAQ from http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,22146.0.html if you don't understand what is master and critter dat.

The fallout.dat Aquare linked to is an unfortunate cvet pirate copy with needless stuff removed and different name, but it should work as well.

Its not that it confuses me, it just pisses me off so much cause I always get killed, even in the middle of friggin cities. And I dont have Fallout 2, and no way am I downloading that massive file, it'll use up all my internet.

If you don't like TLA, then you really won't like it here. People actively spend all day trolling 'guarded' cities, and you'll likely die just as much from PvE here as there.

And you need Fallout 2 data files in order to play this game.

Well in that case, good bye FOnline, hope you die a boring death.

I'm sorry to hear that, just because FOnline doesn't appeal to your taste doesn't mean you have to wish it to die a boring death.
Good luck with finding a game that you will enjoy.

I dont understand how getting killed a hundred times in one day appeals to anyone.

because not everyone is getting killed 100 times in a day.

Darktiger138, in practice it happens only in the beginning, when you don't know how the game works and how to mitigate the risks (also low level characters die in a blink of an eye because of low HP). It doesn't mean that you won't die once you learn about the dangers, but you can prepare yourself for possible death and take the risk of it knowingly.

I suppose it doesn't help that pretty much everyone on there only speaks Russian....

With a little experience and use of your brain you will find yourself not dying in dangerous locations (or safe ^^) even with low hp, wastelands not as harsh as it seems.

Lol.. 100 times per day? and you say goodbye to FOnline.. that's kind of sad I must say.
I got killed about million times and I still keep going it doesn't matter to me anymore how many times I die.

maybe because the only characters that you play are unarmed trolls? lol

It wouldn't hurt.

Real wastelanders didn't have videos and guides on how to survive.

Ya, but wouldn't it have been nice. At least for the basics...

I will make a suggestion to you, if you find the difficulty of this game is too high, there are other games to suit your tastes. (http://www.habbo.com/) I started playing on this server barely a week ago, and I've already got a few characters to level 10+, with only my own wits and means. (And liberal use of the FUCKING WIKI, IT'S RIGHT HERE, CLICK IT. (http://fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Main_Page))

While I agree and its good to see some people actually looking to help themselves, the wiki is extremely outdated, so take it with a grain of salt.

Dated or not. The Wiki has information that is currently applicable and more than enough help to get started.

I don't think wiki contains a lot of outdated informations.

If you spot an outdated article, you can edit it to update it. Ask for editing rights in #2238wiki IRC channel. I hope to see you there soon. :)
