The survey was filled by 104 people. Thank you again! Now I guess you are curious about the results. Below you can read the general finding I made, there is also a link to the graphic summary of the results.
Findings
* There is almost the same amount of players that think the game is getting better(38%) as the ones that think the game is getting worse(37%) each next season. Every 4th participant doesn't see a difference.
* 24% of players play FOnline2238 less than 1 hour a day, while every fifth player playes over 6h a day!
* Real Time battle system wins significantly over Turn Based 52% to mere 21%, 27% of players see no difference.
* Only 1/4 of players don't belong to any faction.
* Merely 20% of players like protected locations most, twice as much prefer unprotected locations while the remaining 40% doesn't see a difference.
* Blueprints are mostly disliked or hated by respondents but there is 39% of players that find this feature kinda cool.
* 57% of respondents would like to see more caps at shop, while 23% thinks that there is a right amount of them, there's also 13% of the players that don't really care much about money.
* The same amount of players thinks that the barter skill should remain the way it is as there are people that see it as a useless feature. There is also 16% that mostly think the feature might be useful if reworked.
* Most of players miss in FOnline2238 the single player content including quests.
* FOnline is loved by most respondents because of it strong reference to Fallout 1 and 2. Also many players indicated a multiplayer interactions and PvsP system as the most liked/loved factor of the game.

I hope you find this survey useful or entertaining. It didn't of course cover all the aspects connected to FOnline2238, but there will be more surveys. I plan to make the next one mainly about PvsP experience.
-
Thanks, that was a good idea.
-
Good this will be usefull
-
6 hours at centaurs, flooters and aliens a minigun and 20k 5mm will make you level 24.
-
Thanks, nice idea.
-
Oh, well. Yet another proof that the server is dying.
-
3D era will come some day, unfortunately, and...
"What's the thing that you love about rpgs and that you miss in Fonline?"
3d graphic 0 0%
No one needs that damn 3D.
"I like/love Fonline mostly because of..."
Love towards fallout 1 and 2 34 33%
Everyone needs something, that reminds fallout1/2.
"Do you think that the game each next wipe is getting..."
better 40 38%
worse 38 37%
wtf? And how 40 think that it's going to be better?
Anyway, really helpful thing, I hope that 3D stuff is going to be used in some useless TLA clones, not on 2238, in the end.

Nice survey. Although it's missing some more detailed questions about PvP and PvE it does show some interesting points.
It seems, that the community is kinda splitted in their opinions about important changes. There are almost as many players thinking, that with every wipe the game gets better as there are players, who think the exact opposite is the fact. Same goes with the blueprints and the barter skill. I expected some a more clearer result here, to be honest.
Also, what surprised me a bit was the fact, that there seems to be a strong demand for more "single player content".
Such surveys could be helpful for the devs, i think, as they quickly summarize some main issues about the game. Just needs a bit fine tuning still and some more questions about player interactions in general (PvP, TC-System stuff like this) as said.
-
I think everyone agrees the game need new content.
-
Not so just fonline need some regular updates
-
@RavenousRat - 3D is the only way, how to add new content easily. And you might wanna check 3D development from time to time, those guys made a huge progress, new stuff looks cool while retaining its falloutishness
@OP - Make a new poll oriented on PvP stuff - weapons/TC/alts and so on
-
well, most of the players who didnt like wipes, changes new features etc already quit the game, those who stayed are gms, hardcore faction pvper, and people who never cared, people ahve already vote with their feet the hwole survey doesnt really make sense while u have 40 players online ....
-
I think everyone agrees the game need new content.
nooo! remove all encounters! delete all NPC's! leave only the players!
-
So 3d isn't needed, after all?
-
if u ask the "right" people u can "prove" that the Earth is flat
-
So 3d isn't needed, after all?
Well I wouldn't go so far. Although the survey shows that 3d graphics is not a factor that is missed in FOnline2238, it doesn't yet mean that it is not needed. It seems that, like Sarakin noticed, a 3d will significantly simplify the process of adding new creatures to the game, so in my opinion it's worth pursuing.
if u ask the "right" people u can "prove" that the Earth is flat
It may only prove that there are people that think the Earth is flat, or at least pretend to think so, which is not so unexpected, but it will not be a scientific proof of a flatness of the Earth.
The General Survey was meant to gather information about the feelings and experience of FOnline2238 players, and in my opinion it fullfilled its task quite well. Of course, as always it could be enhanced here and there and like all surveys it is biased, but there were over 100 submits, and even if there is over 1000 active players it still gives a really reliable results.

I said that people have voted with their feet, ur survey means sh!t, all people who didnt like the game have already left and dont give a damn about it, thus the whole survey is on the piss ...
the whole thing about the earth was just an example if u dont get it and u try to explain it to me then ... well damn ... i know one thing u can become a developer of this game

I see someone showing an interest in the community and acting on it. I see many folks responding positively to the action. I also see a minority that feel like it is appropriate to only point out negative points. I think it is important to understand that every useless negative word posted here fulfills that prophecy a little more.
Things like "ur survey means sh!t" and "server is dying" are not constructive comments. You may have valid points, but they are lost in your attitude. Nobody will take you seriously except those who are new. YOU make folks leave just as much as any beta testing decision or lack of input from devs (which I think is overstated).
This forum is put here (by the devs) to hear what you have to say. This forum is you opportunity to influence a game you clearly care for. I suggest stowing the emotions and I encourage you to participate in the discussion constructively.
- End of rant

@Killy
The survey was meant to, it was the aim of it to be focused on the players that actually play the game and not the ones that are not here. Why should we care about the ones that don't visit the forum or play the game. It's natural that a guy just can't play one game all the time. It's a fact. Even the legendary WoW is struggling with the loss of players. People just get bored after a while and they move along. Well they may come back some day, but we are here now, and we, all the people that currently create FOnline2238 community, are the ones that should feel happy playing the game in the first place.
Also I can't really understand why do you use a developer noun as if it is something bad. As if telling someone that he could become a dev of FOnline2238 was an insult.
I think, maybe I am naive but, normal people should feel a gratitude to the ones that spend their leisure time to make something that will provide fun to them. And they do it for free for God's sake.
-
You forget that they DONT spend their leisure time on development-at least it seems that way-and PLEASE if anyone dont agree whit me please dont argue whit me-thank you

Hmm. The question, which comes into my mind here is: If you try to tell someone, that his effort, of trying to contribute something to the community, which actually could be a certain benefit to the whole thing, isn't any good, why do you need to get down to a "..means sh!t..." level at all?
Is it that hard to just point out some things in a normal way?
Of course people who don't like the game leave (and left). But this doesnt effect the representativity of the survey itself nor its intention.

So why are you still here?

@Hects Hakal
I don't really want to argue but what I see seems funny to me. Some people start playing the game and they are really happy about it, they think what an awesome idea to make Fallout online. I can play it with other people, burst them and stuff. And they are all grateful for this opportunity. And then months pass and they are doing the same things again and again and no surprise they got finally bored. But what happens then? They stop being grateful for the game they played for so long and they start whining and even insulting the developers. They think about what a lazy b*tches they are. They insult the same guys that made it possible to them to play the game in the first place. But they don't remember it. And they keep thinking like if there were enough developers to provide them with enough fresh content to keep them playing non-stop.

thats a nice wall of txt, bad it has nothing to do with me, is it ur imagination or u really belive in it?

firehand, asking for more content and asking for existing content to be fixed are two different things, dont get these mixed up.
apart from a few minor things like the companion respawn bug, most of the pve-related issues fall into the first category. However, all the players that are hating on the devs, me included, are pvp players that want to adress issues falling into the second category.
Nobody asks for an extra tc system, extra guns, extra maps and the likes, only for fixes applied to the existing ones and these changes seem to be of a really small nature and easy to implement.
and @ killy
do you think you know the current constellation of all the people that play fonline? The only chance to get an answer to that question is to make surveys and hope that as much people as possible will answer it as humble as possible.
jduging by your posts, I wonder if you did.
I wholeheartedly agree that there are at least 2 big types of players in this game as I often said on the forum, but nobody has any means of proving to what extent which group can be representative.
in any case, your posts seem to be counterproductive. If you have a better idea than making surveys, go ahead.

It wasn't this group who made fonline, the first fonline was the life after, they just heavily modified the life after and made this server.
But as John Porno said, the main people who are whining and hate this session is the people who did nothing but town control and pvp last wipe. These type of players were generally people who are used to the fast paced town control battles, and a crafting system which didn't take weeks to create the best gear etc. PvP players want action, the PvE doesn't excite them enough to do nothing but farm and craft all day PvP players liked fighting other players and the town control wasn't about who held the town for their e-penis. But becuase it drew in other factions to fight them. Now you have to scout every town, nobody really stands in the towns to guard it or roleplay like it was intended "on paper". Most of the town control factions think in terms of game mechanics and not pretending to be their character or coming up with some back story or whatever. And the players who think this way don't see the town control system and something to stand around chat and roleplay they see it as an annoying mechanic that is time consuming and boring. And seeing this game mechanics wise, the easiest way to bypass this boring as shit mechanic is to keep characters in town and hide while they are afk sleeping watching tv or playing hello kitty online.
Then there is the sneaker criticals which annoy the hell out of pvp players because most of their characters are big gunners, or other builds that generally do not have the perception to see the sneakers. And they get killed by invisible enemies and it is not fun to fight. PvP players want to fight level 24 power builds vs other level 24 power builds not a level 24 blue suit with 2-3 grenades.
Then the critical bursters when there is a combat build vs combat builds, people die to these big huge criticals that do 150-700 damage depending on weapon which is enough to annoy anbody, relies on luck but it seems the new perks allow these criticals to happen too frequently than what they were acustomed to.
Maybe do not speak for everybody I am sure there are pvp players who like doing the PvE aspect like farming and crafting but still I think these are the over biggiest complaints and frustrations to the PvP community.
Now for PvE, things that drive people nuts in PvE and crafting is moving the terminals to some PK friendly place where they turn into troll havens or there is recipes for certian items which are not possible to obtain. Then the random nerfing and buffing of encounters for reasons that make no sense what so ever also drives people nuts. Nobody understands why some encounters are buffed to 300 hipoints and the best it drops is a fn fal(which can be obtain from easier enemies) or a flamer with mk2 fuel (oh wow big deal blue flamer fuel) or for a shotgun that nobody generally uses. Removing 10mm smgs for greaser pistols made no sense, its not like the 10mm smg was that great weapon now you have to fight hub patrols to obtain these? And the lowering the chances to find a unity encounter and removing AP rockets from these encounters was necessary because?
Overall the game has became more frustrating more tidius and not everybody finds these new changes fun which is why the "bashing of developers" come about these days. They are frustrated annoyed and confused about random changes to the game and the only people to blame is the people who create and implament these changes which are the developers. Who else to blame for their frustrations?
-
I think there are certain issues that were not mentioned in the poll at all, or only superficially.
For example the poster above mentioning PvE constantly ruined by PK trollfest and constant nerfs - like really it was not always pretty bad: spending time on worldmap hoping for random fight, and then turn the random fight into resources by killing things. That is in my opinion overkill when it comes to patience requirements.
Another thing would be the integrity of Fallout system. Though results showed that players do like the game because it is Fallout, it does not mean people like it for all the features and choices that Fallout offered. It'd be good time to cut the nonsense with power builds and hate for them.
First at all, the game works nothing like Fallout, yet your option screens are still the same. You'll be able to tag the skills you could tag in Fallout, but doing so will generally do something very different. Just an example tagging repair in Fallout was usually used to gain access in extra areas (glow, MMB, SAD, etc.), where in Fonline it's crafting thing.
Obviously players coming from Fallout are slapped in the face and being spat on.
Really, compared to Fallout, Fonline is not streamlined, it's unforgiving, unrewarding, and unbalanced.
Also some questions don't give answers. You ask players whether they like more TB or RT, good.
But for multiplayer game of this scale TB is not the best choice so that people will favor RT.
Does it however mean that RT works well? In my opinion it does not work well at all, in comparison to Tactics implementation for example.
Anyway it's still great start and I hope your work will be taken seriously.

I feel the game has taken for the better as far as PVP equality. As a player that has been around since 2009, it is a big step to see BGers worth a damn in PVP. In the old days, a SGer with x3 toughness would get hit for 0 by BGers using JHP....and AP was harder to come by. This wipe there are so many perks that counter all the offensive threats, it makes for fun PVP. My only complaint this wipe is the TC system, as little as I did last wipe, I know it has lowered interest because of such mentioned grenade sneakers and a lack of militia. Why add militia when town can be turned in 5 mins and all the militia the faction added prior to th switch in fluence are now you're enemy? My opinion, if you keep influence system, increase the total influence cap for the town controlling by 5 per militia. This way, you can't take control of town until you fight the militia the controlling faction took to build up the defenses. So controlling town has 600 max influence, where the one trying to take have a 500 max. Would give reason for people to hang out in town and fight for the monies/time they spend to defend ,town. In this system, there is no way to know when to defend/log in.

...
Yeess, yesss, yesss! Me agree. When I read forum I feel that Fonline is becoming only a PvP game. What is more - retarded one (waiting hours over world map, one criticalburst fights, really sick and annoying fastrelogs). I wish Fonline to be adventure, no combat simulator.
