Post by: C.J.Smiths on April 15, 2012, 05:45:56 pm
Well, just started this session play and came to NCR's mine. All resources are depleted. Nice thing i must say to you, but as player who just started this session i wanna play too.
Can someone explain wth this "depletion" and how long it will be? You can just start blame me, but it will not help.

Nice advice, bro. As lvl1 without car or any friend on server who can help me with fast move i can easily move from mine to mine. You better THINK twice, before write here "so nice".

Youre just lazy, thats it. No need to have a car or OD alt/friend to move from place A to place B

Make high carryweight chars for each mine (junktown, klamaht, ncr, sf). Put them inside the mine and create a tent outside the mine. Then keep fast relogging on those builds to see if there's any materials inside.

Name the chars in such way that it's fast to write their name. Example Miner1-5. You only have to change the number behind the name.

Wait a few minutes and try to mine again, they'll come back over time.

OMFG get a rope find a brahmin enco tame a brahmin and when u go mining take brahmin with you so when u are overweight put stuff on the brahmin. Also try to go mining in the morning and late at night when not so many players are online. That is how I do, I take my cow in the morning and go mine like 120 minerals and about 70 iron ore in one run. Also setting the base or tent next to the mine is a big plus too.

All advices SO NICE, but you all better read first message twice. Didn't asked you how to transport 100500 ore. Didnt asked you "how your balls became steel on the level 1 and it let you travel across wastelands alone". Can someone exactly say HOW LONG NEED TO WAIT this depletion wear-off? Cause if it about many hours then it is not for me. And who can guarantee me that other mines isnt depleted too? Noone, i think. Better read and think about you read, and only then answer.

The ore deposit is depleted for about 5+ minutes. If you need to move across locations, go into real-time and just escape ANY encounter. Talk to nobody, stop nowhere, just keep moving.

Name the chars in such way that it's fast to write their name. Example Miner1-5. You only have to change the number behind the name.

^this is a really lame way to play the game

and that's why i can almost never find anything in mines. because of this sheer explosion of lameness that i just read.

Don't shoot the messenger please. It's not the players' fault if the game encourages "lame" methods to achieve their goals. If you were a beginning player, would you like to get stuff quickly or slowly?

Mine during european nighttime to avoid overcrowding, and if you can bring a Brahmin with you, it can carry all the ore you want. I found it to be a decent way to mine without alts.

Make a slaver and tell the slaves to mine, they always seem to find resources.
Also safest way to travel is high ap turrnbased.

1# ask one of the great devs - Solar, I tried once craft a gun and ammo, 4  hours 4 mines 44 deaths later i found some ore, crafted a gun just to lose it in the next encounter, puke, delete the game feel better.

avv, you're method is awesome. Of course i think so because i do the same thing lol. And you're right it's not our fault - it's just our way of adapting to the game mechs.

how about you make a science character that disassembles weapons?

With 100% Science you can get some resources pretty often, but I didn't try "ultimate disassembler" with 300% Science though.

Sciencing with 100% science is like mining but throwing away materials while doing it. Best get that 300% + dismantler perk. But it takes time to level that char. Outcome is pretty neat however, you do get a lot of materials if you farm something for one hour, loot everything and dismantle them.

thing about slaveing is now slaves have a limit to how much they can mine. once they reach there max cw.(which is when they start to walk instead of run) they will make the mineing animation but wont get any ores.

Slaves almost all have a carry weight higher than a 10str char (130 something) and they start to walk the second you give them orders and wander back to where you gave them orders when they are finished. I've never seen a slave run once given mining orders.

am not talking about them running to the ores to mine am saying when they reach there max cw(which you can find out threw giveing them stuff till they start walking) they will make the mineing animation but wont take anything because they are at max cw. thou threw barter you can mine yourself and give them more. its a feature so we can leave slaves mineing all night so get mass amounts by afking.
