i've been wondering what the mechanic is for computing damage from burst fire vs. normal. is it normal damage X number of rounds in burst over a cone or what?

I think it's normal, just like you've got hit with x single shots in one moment.
F.e. bursting with 10mm smg is like shooting 10 single shots (if not talking about some of the shots can miss or hit another target, that's another problem).
PS: Anyway I don't know if it is 10*computed value or computed value 1+computed value 2+ (..) computed value 10.

I'm pretty sure each bullet has its own chance to crit though.

really? because that would make crit chance bizzarely high, i think that its just increased, not multiplied by number of rounds.

when first bullet hits target there is roll for whatever its crit , if so the nall dam is crit multiplied
also ifmultiple targets hit in one brst every target gets its own roll for being crited

I'm pretty sure each round has it's own damage because if you take the bonus ranged damage perk the +2 damage it adds is to each individual bullet.If you score a crit with a burst from a p90 (12 rounds ) it can hit for over 400 points of damage so im pretty sure they each have their own crit chance also.I'm not very good with all these exact formulas alot of you use but it seems to make sense to me this way.

you mean SG burst? weapons too weak , even for pve i say sniper does better.

Offtopic: Yeah, need to make double pistols/smg style in game for SG-fast shoters!!!
Why not? I mean, if you have 10 AGI+2 Action Boys and fast shot you getting three P90C bursts per turn (if you have P90Cs in each hand, so you don't need to reload at same turn). With sniper build, but with fast shot, and 1 less STR, 'cause you don't need 5, you can do mass crits with bursts! But 10mm bullets sux...

and reload ? or you making fast shot + BroF one that would be possible then (understanding in row as "in oen round") but still majority of pvp is RT and in RT big shots count

Beyond one hex range, a burst turns into a 3-hex wide cone, with the target in the center. So with any burst weapon, once its beyond that one hex, is impossible to my knowledge to hit with every single bullet per burst because of that Spread.
Note 2- Dual-wielding P90s in RT isn't really that special. Probably due to the fact you have to a) wait for the change weapon animation, and b) wait for the APs, and even if you have high enough for that, reason A still stands.
Fighting that way in RT is highly... inefficient, but that is my personal opinion on it, though I am an extensive SG-burster user so I hope that counts for something. :/

hehe, 3d models of players, allows to make new gun models/animations etc ;)
