Title: A twitter
Post by: Haraldx on March 19, 2012, 03:23:25 pm
Simple as that. The players are whining about not knowing anything what the developers are doing making them look like if they are doing nothing (but trolling with the players, which is kind of nice of them). Open up a twitter. Post there something like "We are trying to fix the server going down from time to time" or "New update incoming next century, will include TC changes". Simple as that, nothing in detail, just raw stuff. Don't have time or have another reason? "Hire" somebody from the community to do it.

Fuck facebook. Twitter is actually good and has RSS without registering useless accounts.

Why? Not like I ever liked FB anyway.

Twitter is not a social site. It is a blog. Only with a 150 letter message limit. Everybody can see it. Facebook requires accounts and sends spam to everybody in your address book for months if you connect it to your e-mail.

Why open a Twitter when there's a blog already?

I hardly see how you can use your huge blog just to make a simple entry once in a week for example.

make a simple entry once in a week for example.

And here gentlemen, is the problem. If there would be a reason for a simple entry once a week, there would be a simple entry once a week on the blog. But there aren't always news to tell about as you can't demand 24/7 work and progress.

I rather have a blog with usefull fewer posts than a twitter or FB account with forced content.

Exactly what I was going to answer to Haraldx.

Hmm... a strong yet debbatable point infact. Ofcourse yes, you can use the blog to post simple stuff there too, since the game is not a full-time job and will never be but having a whole blog to post such simple stuff looks a bit ridiculous. Well ok, as I've calmed down (yes I even got angered by my own stupidity)it may be the blog, it may be a month rather than a week, but not a sudden wipe blog post and a whole year. That is the whole problem. A regular player that wants to play a game for some cheesy fun obviously doesn't wait a whole year for fixing something broken, and even if the devs do leak some info, this player would never lurk through all the posts just to find this information. See my point?

We have a twitter account, but we aren't really using it. I personally find it too annoying to switch accounts all the time.

This has been made easier, you can see the posts in the game Launcher, which also has a status checker (I think its info is wrong sometimes, but well nothing is perfect).

It shows only the posts in the announcement and news section. I remember Surf (or was it Solar?) used from time to time leak something in discussions in the suggestion board.
