Title: New tagging commands
Post by: Dark Angel on March 18, 2012, 02:08:40 pm
I suggest to add command:
~greenTag [nick],
~redTag [nick] .
Simple. It should be very useful for friends and tag alts... for everyone.

I like this idea. I may only add one more to it so we can set people to neutral when we don't know if they are green or red.
~neutralTag [nick]

Now that's just stupid. They remove same thing when it was done more comfortably in text file, and now you want just more annoying version of it?

This is next best thing.

I support this. But make commands like this:

~TagGreen [nick],
~TagRed [nick],
~TagGrey [nick] resets status to neutral
~Tag [nick] shows current status

or even

~TagGood [nick],
~TagBad [nick],
~Tag [nick] resets status to neutral
~Tag? [nick] shows current status

Or put back one of the most greatest feature, which was removed for unknown reasons (except if Izual hate for it is a good reason).

Yup.

http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,20890.msg173227.html#msg173227

Players want it, what Izual was yapping (total BS from what i read) about back then, what i'd love to verbally destroy now. ;D

Poke Jovanka -> Jovanka implements old NC = because Jovanka wants to implement old NC, right?

No, I don't. I changed my opinion about NC. Actually 20 minutes ago I would say I'm indifferent about sharing NC,
but your post how you would verbally destroy Izual made me check his post (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,20890.msg173459.html#msg173459) and quotes there again, and they
convinced me that cons outweigh pros.

Many time it happend to me, that i was killed by someone, seeing their nick, but was unable to tag them, because they were running all the time.

What about auto color(red obv. or another color to leave red for self-tags) for anyone who kills you, if not already tagged green (for troll friends friendly fire accidents.)
Go "OH NOES this would break the anonymity of sneaky assasins/snipers" on me, but it would be a fix to the cant-click-circlerunning-guy-to-tag-red and could be ok with the "color of name-tags should be about ingame experience and not about shared lists of thousand nicks"-guys

I don't have a problem with namecolor not active, but i hate it when i can't tag someone because of him/her moving.
So with this kind of way we would avoid a copy-pasted list or people punching in thousands of nicks from a list with the command suggested by the OP

Other idea, could be combined with the first one: Enable name-colorization, but only one color: green - so we could still tag our gangmembers and allies green, without meeting every new member/alt in person, but avoid the "this guy I never met is red because he is in my textfile, I should shoot him"

I'm aware of the rules - I should post this in a new thread - will do.

NameColorizing still works for faction members. But it does not for allied factions. This could be solved in faction base terminal by marking a faction hostile/friendly/neutral. I mean, if factions are in war, they might as well reckognise themselves on sight.

No they don't, your "weight" of certain point of view is questionable as for any other individual, look at the big picture. Fact is, simple poll would explain a lot and out-weight cons, if it is fun and enjoyable for the player. Few loud individuals can share a voice, but they don't represent some solid numbers, do players have made consensus about whether they want it in game or not and again, those "cons" were pretty absurd, questionable, allow me to add that again.

Realism, player interaction, "proper" recognition or at least those miserable and failed attempts to assume what is right or wrong, boring and fun, or how the player should interact with others more than to just shoot by color is completely irrelevant, there is much more than color to recognize and that certainly is not the issue witch was presented in those wall of texts that lead into totally obsolete display of incorrect information, currently there is some gray color everyone shoots anyway, might be blue or violet, yellow, though that cannot be an argument against it. I don't see reason to prevent that feature.

Bring back old NC.

At least, we should have more colors.

These three are far insufficient to fit to all kind of relationship that you can have with random characters...
