Title: Encounting encounters with players in them
Post by: Cpt.Cactus on February 10, 2012, 05:49:02 am
So this happened to me the other day, I was heading back to a safe place with my low level character and on the way I was forced in to an encounter with another Player who then killed me like the PKing ape that s/he was. So I feel like the player should always be warned about an encounter that has another player in it, so you are not forced in to an encounter that could cost you something valuable while you're trying to bring it to a place of safety

Being warned when a player enters / you enter with a player already there?
That would ruin the element of suprise :/

Never being forced into a encounter with a player, but always choose?
Yeah, and allow an option to avoid ANY human NPCs aswell.
Perhaps thats one part of a 'Random' encounter, not knowing.

I don't think this is going to happen :/

Excuse me, i am not 100% sure, but aren't we playing multiplayer game? But, if you doesn't want to meet any player, i think i found a perfect solution (http://interplay.com/games/fallout.php) for you.

Compared to the current state of the game it is INDEED a perfect solution...

But I would go for Fallout 2 with the various community patches including the high definition graphics ones etc.

Honestly, I would rather suggest the opposite. having a higher chance to end up with others in an encounter. I rarely encounter other people these days. and thats kind of boring really.

I'm not saying that you should be warned when a player enters your encounter, I'm just saying that you should be warned when there already is one. You can encounter all the other encounters the same way, just when it comes to players you should give the option to avoid it so you don't get killed by some asshole.

Couldn't you just invest more skill points in order to increase the % of the outdoorsman skill or use a car? Choosing a different route might help as well. You're are not obligated to travel straight through mountainous terrain.

Personally I would like if we could get info if someone enters or leaves the encouter we are in. Happened to me that I was in an encouter just finished and was about to leave then saw someone but before I could turn back my char reached the exit grid. Also I experienced situation where I was looking for my attacker through the whole map but he already run away after loosing to much hp. Getting info on others who enter or leave would solve a lot of problem give a chance for those who don't want to fight to leave and a chance for those who are pissed of if they can't find the guy who tried to ambush them or they tried to ambush him/her.

I personally would prefer system like this: You walk world map from west to east and you enter a forced encounter, means, that you spawn on west side close to exit grid, then you have a choice, either go out to west and that will make you move back 1 square to west, or leave by east, taking risk of someone inside the map, and find yourself 1 square to east passing instead.  8) I dont like this whole spawn in middle things personally, its like teleport or parachuting, but i do know many people like this.

+1 destroyer, spwaning in the middle of the things is ugly and brokes any posibility of fight. Most of the combats in encounters i been were a simply matter of who spawns in the middle and gets pawned.
Also i like more forced encounters, it is strange to see that even when the server has 400 players i still encounter players with the same regularity than last season when there were only 100 players online.

Because that 400 online is just fake :P
Its still same online like prewipe but now there is 3 x more dualboxes etc

I'm pretty sure he means that when you are about to encounter an encounter with a player in it (If your outdoorsman check fails) you just have a text showing up that it has a human player in it (without giving you the chance to skip it, as your OD check failed).

Well if you have at least 100 of outdoorsman's skill you can learn quite useful perk, the cautious nature (giving you +3 to PE if enter location withour your will), beside the more PE you have the far from the middle of the map you spawn.
My solution? If you don't have enought OTD skill and dont have a lot of PE, then just try to avoid traveling on world map or ask somebody to give you a ride.
If we go further with Cpt. Cactus idea maybe we delete PVP-PK and allow killing other players only at Hinkley or in TC? Because you are often killed without your permission, so they simply force you to die and you have some valuable things with you that you dont want to be taken...please guys this is pointless.
