Title: City preview
Post by: Lordus on February 25, 2010, 12:57:06 am

City preview ruins the PvP game.

Allow preview only if you have perk scout and add there cooldown for it. So basic players should look if there is not any PK inside and gangs must more think or use regular scouts.

City preview ruins the PvP game.
Why would you call grid camping a PvP game?

He meant the fight for a city control... As long as it's about the city control then yes... Now it could be that scout perk enables the prewiev during the 'control countdown', later this may be restricted to scout profession

And you think that big groups will not have one or two with scout profession who then will do the same like now?

For same reason one could call 'worldmap camping' a pvp game :)

well, the game is centered about pvp, i mean, it's the only thing that presents a challange after reaching lvl 21, that and attacking the enclave patrols...

If you have enough players (10+) which are separated to groups by the entrance preview and you have voice comm, you get realtime info about the situation in the city. So there will be difference in amount of information you get, if you implement this change.

PvP is now more about waiting over cities. Waiting on enemy first step. Sometimes you are waiting many minutes because of gang on world map has bigger advantage over the gang in the city.

But i dont want to ruin game for non PvP players or single players. You can get perk scout on 3rd level, where many others are unusefull. Maybe everyone should use preview but with big cooldown (15 minutes) because of existing characters, but perk scout will reduce this time to reasonable timeout.

I.e. without scout perk.. one preview in 15 minutes (real time), with perk (2 previews at the moment - just because many exid grids are wide and you must watch it twice to get enough info), than wait for another 2 previews 2 or 3 minutes).

And Lexx, i heard you are experienced map maker, please, look at my different suggestion about small map modification http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=1891.0

Preview should be disabled during town control hours or there should be a cooldown for it (for example 5minutes per char and the timer shouldn't be visible)

I don't think preview gonna really change things, it was the same situation before the wipe and the preview: all player on World Map who waiting the info of scouts to attack, I remember the tracking list when exiting town: sometimes 20 names who are waiting on the map.
