Title: Losing Interests in this game
Post by: Swarm on February 01, 2012, 06:40:05 pm
Hate to say it I am losing interest in this game. This just isn't the fast paced action game I used to love to play. I'm starting to miss gathering numbers and starting a TC timer for other factions to show up. It seems most people in my faction have lost interests and gave up on the game, and I'm starting to lose interest myself. I can only take so much of hinkly fighting. I really think the game was more fun last wipe when you could gather up around 10-15 people bull shit on mumble and engage in some fun fights. I guess the PvE players are happy more to do more pve goals, but this game has really died for and just isn't the fun it used to be as a PvP ape.

So I guess the poll is for those who played last wipe is the game more fun or less fun this time around?

More fun overall , but yes TC is broken and so less PvP.

To me it feels a lot more like "Fallout, that happens to be online" than ever before. Wondering around, killing stuff with small groups of people, helping new folk etc, working with people on quests etc - all seems to be working a lot more smoothly. I've not even been PKed (yet). Of course, it's hard to tell how much of this is due to new game mechanics and how much is due to it being "early season, before everyone owns thousands of everything".

I admit I was never really interested in a "fast paced action game" and barely even played with the Town Control stuff, but personally, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far.

"early season, before everyone owns thousands of everything".

I hope this won't happen. I hate to see that every player has few cars, 3 bases, every weapon in game and 200000 caps. It's way more fun when things are hard to find, so if you have something that others don't or you can kill somebody because you found some "special" weapons that others didn't , you feel better :)

Last season I had about 2,700,000 caps, old bunker base, all kind of cars, all weapons, gauss pistol and every drugs and it was boring. I had 3 players with 5 mercs and could rape anyone and it was boring.

This session will be no different in that respect Vandal.

I personally find it a little boring in alot of ways, I don't know.    I say to myself these new features and new wipe and shits is so awesome but it just isn't doing it for me, not sure why >:C.

Time to get creative I guess. ;)

I've never participated any Tree Control, so even if it's broken, dull, not-working or whatever, I won't notice this serious business. Sorry about that, my bad I don't care.

However I find this session pretty cool, hoarding stuff is slow, but keeps going (without fancy exploits for infinite shit in terrible high amount). Caps are the most valuable thing on Wasteland, there is more to do, more quests, more places to visit. Me gusta.

Where do you hang out?

Map travel time seems a lot more forgiving this time round, so "all over the place" is possibly true - though mostly in the area between Vault City and Modoc, but with regular trips to Gecko or Klamath mines, and to Junktown. I've met quite a few people in encounters, but none have so far decided to kill me before the map loads :)

I remember when I was travelling with you, I was quite baffled when a player group (around 4 or 5) encountered us, and instead of making swiss cheese of us we were gifted with spare armors without any additional word on it. :P

This session is the best of all four I've played. New perks, totaly new system of support perks (just great), gathering and crafting is way much better and if we add to this bleprints thing it is just great, some new quests, membership of NPC faction is more profitable this time.
The money is now more valuable than ever.
Of course the game have a lot of bugs etc., but it is going in good way.

...membership of NPC faction is more profitable this time.
Could you please tell me any example of such profit? Because I am a member of BoS and except patrols shouting "Halt" instead of "Don't come any closer", I don't see any.

Reputation now affects price when trading in towns , it has much bigger influence than just simple barter skill.

More fun,

But I prefer early game when players are all equalized by trying to figure out what's what and everyone is struggling to carve out thier niche anyway. I suspect that once the season grows older it will become more like the last one was. I still don't understand why people come here just for the 'fast-paced-PvP-action' to be honest. I mean sure, its part of the game every now and then but I'm sure there are much better places to get that sort of fix mmo-wise.

having said that however, I lose interest in this game every few months and I think thats only natural if you binge on a highly addictive game such as this, eventually you will get bored and give it up for a time. But I always end up coming back once my vacation has revitalized my need for the wasteland.

I think this session is so far the best. Because of various reasons:
- Faster crafting
- Faster levelling
- Really good stuff is harder to get
- Caps are harder to get
- Fast relogs and dual log allowed
- Better and more bases
- No cooldowns
- More perks and character variety

But I prefer early game when players are all equalized by trying to figure out what's what and everyone is struggling to carve out thier niche anyway.

If you mean the beginning of this wipe, it was full of bugs and exploits which tc factions abused heartlessly to gain power.

It's more fun then last wipe. I'd say there is some fun, but there could be more. I just expected so much more.

Likewise...

I so far have gone 9 levels (yep, slow player here and soloing) just with the quests and the battles as I am doing them.

Really enjoy the faction stuff... BoS and getting to do missions for them is alot of fun even if the rewards are not that huge (though getting a flamer, 25 ammo and a jacket just for some really simple quests was nice). I hope they keep expanding their quest lines and maybe have PvP quests for them or PvE against really tough opponents later on.... or even faction Town Capping!

Anyway, definetly better than the last one.

Don't get me wrong the new quests and crafting system is great, the new perks make for some interesting builds and the level 24 cap is nice.

I was kind of disappointed in the town control system, was hoping for swarm battles with the new perks :\ I was really hoping for putting some LOL base names on the counter but I guess that's where my interests were in this game.

But you know I guess the fun part about starting a new wipe is over we already got our cars and bases and can farm stockpiles of stuff is now easier as time progressed and now I have a few level 24 characters.

But we all have fun in different ways some people enjoy the challenge of crafting and finding blue prints some like to fight vs the NPCs to geat gear, I had the most fun doing town control battles.

I mean the new TC system gave us a great opportunity to fight in different parts of the town you don't even need to be in the TC zone any more. Sure we were all bored of the same old strategy in each town, but this wipe has potential to have great fun to fight in different parts of town but the influence system is just so slow! But what can you do maybe they change it maybe they won't. And there is already the discussion on the TC system.

Dual Log is allowed is something new to me ???
