The idea is simple, replace this crappy clunky useless "Addict" bar (http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/4411/screen30012012222453.jpg) ("well duuuuuh, thanks for reminding me I'm addicted" - JET Junkie) with something more useful for drug users, maybe something more like this (http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5438/junkiebar.jpg). Ignore bad graphics :P
Here is the main problem - the original bar informs you when you get addicted to a single drug, but if you have addiction already (and drug builds in FOnline very often take more than one drug), you will not be informed, because the bar is there already. This means you have to open character window, go to karma tab and scroll aaaaall the way down to check if you got new addictions, or how many you have. JET addicts obviously are always addicted, which makes this bar even more pointless for them than for anyone else.
If you play druggie, I'm sure you know going to character screen to check your addictions can be annoying.
I can't be the only person who hates this :P
My proposition is to replace the bar with drug icons. Maybe with little bars representing drug effect/addiction time. Maybe not, perhaps it's too much information. I don't know, it's just a concept. Maybe it should look different, but I know one thing - the current "Addict" bar doesn't make much sense in a game where many characters take different drugs very, very often (comparing to original Fallout) and many of them are addicted permanently.
Obviously someone may say, it doesn't stick to Fallout roots (especially the timer bars). But guess what, it's a different game, different genre, with different pace and different gameplay. Real roots are not in obsolete interface mapped 1:1 to a different game. In my humble opinion it's not how you should pay tribute to the original game.
Treat is as concept, not like a solid idea. Feel free to brainstorm. For example: maybe it should be enabled by a keypress? (you press a keyboard key, the bar appears, you realease the key, it disappears). Maybe it's not needed on screen all the time.

What I like about this idea most is not removing the old addict bar (almost every of my chars is addicted, no new info for me) but showing how much time for a drug to wear off. I mean, now it is a real metagaming, I have to set my alarm clock to see how much time remaining. And of course it would be nice to make it toggleable just as nicks over characters are.

This would be useful.

I love your idea Jovanka. I would like to see the little drug icons with addiction timers and such. It would be convenient, and there's no reason I see why not to do it.

Nice idea.

Maybe something like 60's atomic war caltucators form
( circle with few lines ).
2 lines (any color) and 1 main line or any amount of lines can show progress of taken drug, line when you need take other and addiction timer that can worn off or stay forever for jet. all this can be taken in 1 circle in left corner of window and represent, for exaple nuca cola by blue, jet by orange and buffout by green without any images.
Or like at my primitive sceth each one drug can be presented in 8x8 pixels cirles and have just different background colors.

It's a good idea Jovanka - and the graphics don't suck, they look good and functional (albeit a bit too small for my tastes).
The general standard interface is in dire need of an overhaul and additions anyway, maybe such a topic should be created/merged to collect all ideas/finished works of such interface overhauls? I posted something like that here http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=20940.msg173723#msg173723 - but it would be better if all of these would be under one single thread instead.
I like canesugars idea, but in general it is not a good idea to make form over function.

What I did was adding (Interface) tag to all my interface suggestions (there will be MOAR :P)
So it can be easily searched/sorted by name...
