Elaborate why if you like.
-
It's better because there aren't infinite resources to be hoarded in a nuclear wasteland? It's a little more Fallout, a little less Hello Kitty (except for the DIY bases but those are pretty freakin' cool).
Also makes Science more useful and reduces the amount of crap items laying around in a base. Except for leather jackets unless we have some gecko pelt shortage in the near future.
-
It rewards patient diligent lumberjacks, such as me.
-
The removal of cooldowns made the whole system much more pleasant. But most of all. The removel of the high science (and repair) requirements to make gunpowder and such. This is what forced so many alts. Characters who wanted to craft a bit were pretty much forced to take repair AND science. Gimping them badly.
-
Agreed!
I just started playing again and saw the new changes.
It was really cool not to have to just wait in order to really use the fact that I can carry alot of stuff... or have to worry that if I pick a flower then I wont be able to do anything else!
-
I on the other hand actually can't believe how BORING playing a crafter has become
In every game where crafting is implemented i play as such. Unfortunately being unable to craft anything better than MA mk1 is driving me crazy! The gathering is one thing but if you have the mats you don't have a use for them no more...
Try selling what you make and see there's no caps for you to gain anything... :-\
-
I really dont mind this new system, but there should be balance between number of iron rocks and minerals rocks as now there is like 10 to 3 for iron and if you look on your fixboy you will see that to craft any ammo you need 4,5 times more gunpowder iron.
If it comes about bases I think it is on good way now. 10k for it is not so much for a group of players. After you have your own construction side you just need to consequently gather required resources, which is ok, because construction site is safe, so your effors wont go for nothing.
So now this is no about who have more monies, but who is better nolifer and lumberjack :D.
Just look at us, the Street Queens. Wipe ago we had like 4 bases set in a period of two or three months and now we have 4 or 5 bases all over the world.

Blue prints yes, resources depleting no.

You probably don't remember when there was 12 minutes cooldown between digging every 3 pieces of rocks. You had to find resources first in random encounters, so someone could find your mining bot (what was one of the best methods for gathering), kill him and grab rocks to himself.

Sorry bu I understand it this way: "I can't craft my favorite high tier stuff without putting some effort into buying or looking for blueprints myself. It sucks!"
You can still craft lower tiers just fine and I agree that current economy system isn't working properly.
I usually use hybrid craft/turnbased-fighter/ build with heavy does of a loner and I find new system great.

You mean unlimited resources? Without changing cooldown on crafting? If this is what you want this game to be?
Tons of ammo, thousands of weapons and armors. Maybe 100 k of caps on start? And little cute kitty as your companion?
Such world after nuclear war should be so cool?
Nope, bullshit.
-
...And little cute kitty as your companion?
... I would like that.
Also again. It's a game not realistic simulator. It should be FUN. If someone is hoarding tons of ammo, weapons and armors then let him. He worked for it... right? Unrealistic seems not finding bases with all this ammo, BUT HEY! now it would be UNBALANCED. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

vilaz, I did not mean that possesing of all this stuff should be banned, but that there is no point that we will have no cooldowns and unlimited rescources ingame.
I agree with you it should be fun, but with some doze of sense.

That no... I remember 5 minute cooldown with digging 5 rocks a time along with like 8 hour cooldown for making a CA and YES being a crafter back then was FARCRY more interesting that it is now...

Yep.. it isn't anymore unfortunately... Not for someone whose main character is crafter alright

I would not say so. I often happen to see my crafting cooldown at >2 hours, which I could not happen before. And I can gather hundred of iron in few minutes...
From my point of view, it is better ;D

Funny, I always use "crafter-lumberjack" as main and this is the first era when I enjoy playing such char the most - I've started in November 2009, so I have comparison.

Making what? items of so low quality no one uses anyway? Or cannot sell anywhere?
Playing armorer especially sucks on this...

Well sure there's a paradise for lumberjacks now but please tell me what do you use all that wood for? Sharpened poles?!

Actually, making and selling spears is one assured way of making caps. So it's quite lucrative.

Sure, but it become profitable if any hi-tech armor blueprints will be found. I didn't find any of these so far, but it's not even a month after wipe. No need to rush.

I know... been doing so... advised it to others... got freaking bored with it...

Heh.. yep i use wood for that too... however it's a piece of cake to gather wood... the real problem is junk especially after it's amount has been nerfed....
So basically i guess you just admitted that since the wipe armor crafters had it rough in terms of interesting crafting gameplay...
