I wish i could build such a char, but i still have many doubt about some things:
1- how high should be in current season the sneaking ability to be proficiently used..?NPCS are influenced by your sneak ability when you fight them in the wasteland..?
2- is silent death worth it with anything except bursting..?
3- with the new heave-ho settings,to throw proficiently you still need the equivalent of 5 str..?Or more because the range became larger...?
4- any clue for how to find throwable in current season apart from classic yakuzas and nades near san fran..?
Thanks to all the answering thrower-lovers,i am a bit ashamed beacuse last season i made public some of the best pvp throwing builds, and now i am asking around like a newbie..i just have so little time to test ::) .TY for the help.

You can throw on max range only with 5 str (+2 heavy ho) it will be less if u don't have 5 and same if got 6 or more

Molotovs and knives require 3 ST to throw on 15 hexes.
Grenades require 4 ST.
Heave Ho gives +1 to throwing ST check, and it will exceed a weapons max range if you have 5 ST. I have 3 ST (poor choice), and throw on 15 with two heave ho. With buffout I throw on 21 hexes.
Sneak does affect NPC/Critters in encounters.
Silent death is good with throwing, but not like it is with bursters.
I've got crits from molotovs at around 40, knives around 160, frags around 180, and plasma's at 250.
I was able to squeeze in 300 sneak, 180 throwing, and 116 small guns into mine.
Farming spots for thrown weapons seem to be the same, with maybe some additional spots I can't remember.

Molotovs and throwing knives require only 3 ST now. Heave Ho gives only +1 for throwing, but will add 3 hexes additional range (and it will go past weapons max range). Without heave ho perks you're looking at 16 hexes max range, after both you'll throw 22 hexes.
My sneak/throw throws on 22 hexes. As far as I know, grenades require 4 ST to throw.
I was able to squeeze out 180 throwing, 300 sneak, and approx 115 small guns.
As far as silent death goes, it works fine with throwing weapons, but nowhere near as well as burst weapons.
I've had 160 from knives, 180 from frag grenades, and a whopping 45 HP crit from molotovs (good for leveling, but thats it).
I have not tested plasma grenades yet.
Hope some of that helps
It does, and a lot.I haven t answered to your pm for lack of info, but i see you already managed to handle yourself quite good ;)

I went and double checked - some of that info was accurate based on wiki and other info, but not true in practice.
I updated with correct (meaning I just verified it) info.
I guess I didn't pay too much attention since I spent most of my time leveling, but knives/nades still are max 15 hex range even with 2 Heave Ho perks.

Sadly,5 str seems needed, aka good throwers works only with drugs.

nop, i have 4ST and 2xHeaveHo and i can throw knives and nades at 21hexes.
It works this way:
Every point of ST means 3 hexes more of range, until weapon max range (knifes 16hex, nades 15,hex i think)
Then Heave Ho adds 1ST wich means +3hex, AFTER max range.
If youre planning to make a thrower alt i suggest to use only 4ST, because 5ST will only give you +1hex for knives and nothing for nades (15hex for 4ST, 16hex max range for 5ST).

Your reasoning seems correct,i will wait for some other person to speak his mind, then proceed.Ty.

Are the first 3 hexes free? I was thinking 4x3=12 and 5x3=15. Which is why I use 5 str.
