There are no caps in this economy, all the bank interest rates are negative. The vendors don't buy anything. Am I doing it wrong or are there people camping the vendors? Where are the caps? put some more in! I can't even afford a train ticket.
-
Metzger has all the caps.
No srsly.

Even towns dont have so many caps. (he give this to me for one slave run job)

The caps are currently experiencing technical difficulties. This is the next important thing that needs fixing.

Then followers? :D?!
-
TC has caps , but vendors sure not ... it makes sense if TC gives more but come on players need other sources of cash too :)
-
Try to sell junk at The Blades gang building, or sell spears at Junktown.
-
I'm sure you guys will do a good job with it when you get to it, but right now caps are scarce, which is kind of cool. I just thought people were camping vendors.

If caps were really scarce we'd be fine. There's a lot more caps being earned than spent, which is our problem.

.... mich got 10k caps from 1 slave run..... are you fuken with me.
maybe we all should just make slavers to make caps.

I think that its a pretty safe bet that this will be one of the first things brought under control.

What? There is no reason to nerf it, it's all random.
Some raids only give 500 caps even if you do it all perfectly, some 1,000. and if you lose even one slaver or all of them.... there is a serious risk to this quest. if you fuck it up you lose a shitload of Reptuation with slavers, so you gotta work you way back up big time.
Hell half the slavers with me on that raid nearly died, I barely made that 10800 caps and almost lost a huge cut + reputation.
And after all this time, this is the FIRST time I've ever gotten such a big pay-out.
All the other times it's always been a 500-5,000 payout.
3000 and below being the norm.

Then they can have non caps rewards swapped in.
Of course, we don't have the data for where all these caps are coming from, so it may not be a problem. We shall see.

like what, and why?

I don't understand this at all :P.

There are not infinite caps, some sources are giving way too many out and leaving nothing in the system. That needs fixing.

So you're trying to make EVERY resource (except encounters it would seem) a drainable resource?
And again, what would be the alternative resource to the slave run repeatable quest? Because, honestly, anything else would be wrong.
reasons:
1. It is how slavers can afford mercenaries. (hell you pretty much tied the two together with steel instead of yarn this era)
2. It doesn't make sense to be paid anything else... maybe jet, maybe. but still, not JUST jet.
3. Trying to make only resources for caps scrounging encounters and moving boxes and shovelling shit? God please no, that's all boring (maybe encounters not so much but it's still mindless grinding).
Perhaps! you could mix caps and jet together as a reward. this way we still get our caps, but it is sensible we're given jet as we are slavers and control the slaves by drug addiction.

No, making it so no source hugely exceeds how many caps are spent to crash the system.
-
Banks have negative rate? That would explain something.
Also- I will never spend caps for anything but professions, cars, bases, mercs, possibly some dialog item like Super Toolkit, Paramedic Bag, Bio Med Gel, holodisc, or book.
Others probably do the same.
Maybe 2 or 3 caps to round out a barter deal.

Exactly this.
It's pointless to pay merchants in caps since you know it'll be hard to get any back if they will be really needed for one of mentioned.
No one is paying for items in caps when trading with NPC. This way cash doesn't flow at all.
-
When the traders are working properly you will not be able to trade tier 1 stuff for tier 2.
If you craft or loot tier 2 from tougher (they will be tough one day, honest!) encounters, then you can trade for other tier 2 items at traders.
If you craft or loot tier 1 from easy encounters then you could either trade for other tier 1 items, or trade for caps. You can then spend those caps on tier 2.
Caps are the mechanism by which Tier 1 -> Tier 2 and the way in which the random outpouring of tier 1 gear in Encounters is regulated.
-
For now, if you don't want to carry boxes and do other boring as hell crap, try trading
good items with SoT is my only advice. I suppose they do trade with caps, one of them
claimed they have 10 millions already. They are the 1%. We are 99% :o
-
SoT own Redding?
-
Yes, they do.
-
SoT own Redding?
Redding and 3 other towns.
Don't get me wrong, I think they are entitled to their wealth and great for them they have it.
-
I am pretty sure they aren't really - though it is not their fault. I think there is/was a bug with Redding's TC which gave loads of caps out (which is probably why the caps system is borked).

Actually it was maszrum joke.
We have money, but not so much, because now town TC giving 1k/hour and not growing at all.
-
yes that was joke which contains a lot of truth, acutally. tc is the best source of caps/drugs/ammo - dont understand why other big and strong gangs/alliances are not part of it, especially when we are not that numberous.. if you guys not start doint anything we will have more stuff then rest ot the server., and there will be more crying by lordus and holosima then ever. its really our fault ? ;)
-
DONT FIX THIS PROBLEM please!!!))))
As for me game became interesting. Just fix metzgers quest - he must gave for it not more then 500 caps. And make a cooldown, like gunrunners delivery.... And such quests too.
This way caps will disapear from server, and instead caps-mercks-traps will be goods-goods relations. It makes roleplay possible. And fix traders please. Too much spawning items. Fix crafting. Idea about spowning resources good....But i think recources on mines must recovery not so fast. And make ability to dig recources from encounters. But not much. It makes game harder. TC will be more wishable. Trading will be more interesting.
And now you try to make the end of ex session - a lot of stuff, and you not afraid to loose the fight and stuff. What can i say more - for 1 evening i dig resources and craft 2k rockets. Then sell them. In caps equivalent it was near 400k. Its onlу one simple player for one evening!!!! Disgusting :o
-

That sounds great in theory, but there is one "tiny" detail - many important things you can buy with caps only.
They are artificially made valuable, because you can't get bases, mercs, professions or some items without bags of bottle caps.
And don't expect this to change.
-

There is no more tc, it is just pvp with whoever took town first. The same factions that took a town 2 days after wipe still have them. The is no documentation on the tc system, no defined goal on taking a town, noone knows how long people need to actively TC to actually take it. I dont blame any faction for taking a town, its what factions do. Just wish someone had the details on how tc worked so a strategy could be planned.

Going in, camping it for hours and killing everything and everybody on sight should be enough.
-
You gain influence by occupying the town, pretty much the same rules for occupying a town as before (equipment, numbers, etc), which decreases the others' influence.
If people come in and mine and get to leave the map alive, you also gain influence.
The system is in it's early days, but I quite like it's potential. I didn't come up with it, so I'm not just praising myself :P
I think there should be some form of window reintroduced, so that X minutes per hour is all about protecting something from the other gangs, then the rest of the time is about guarding the town and making sure people can do stuff.
Then have the lockers looted more like once a day to the gang with the most influence, rather than every hour. Of course, increased to match the longer time period.
-

I mean gain influence for people *doing* stuff in town. Mine, do quests, sell cows, whatever.
If you just killed everyone you'd not get anything.

You could start with influence boost for leaving alive with farmed tobacco/barley/apples in Modoc/Klamath.
Because these places don't have mines.
-
Yes the "do stuff and leave alive" feature is good. It could be extended to all sorts of activities.
-
new tc system definitely have big potencial, just need some time to work on it. one of most importants things is missing command to check the other gangs influence in towns - how some people suppsoe to know how long the should stay to obtain control. all gangs trying to capture bh where we hundreds of influence points and thye not trying to capure klamath for example where there is like dozen? :o
+ another thing is, you can stay in some edge of map with your team and capture city where is full militia wich is not cool :o
-

Like slaver sales to metzger in den. (unless this is already the case? I am not aware)

If people come in and mine and get to leave the map alive, you also gain influence. - doesnt work
now there is no communicate about other faction is taking your city, you can take some1s city even if there is enemies militia....
a lot of bugs, its almost unplayable now.

Dear Jovanka, im not trying to say, that caps must leave this game. You still have ability to take caps from quests and traders. You will gather caps for your own depot near 1 week alone, not playing 24/7. And if you want more!-mercs, good bases.....you need to stick together, made an alliances and such. We buy BHH base on 2-nd day after wipe. I want this game to be harder.
-
Fix'd
"Can't do stuff"
So there is no trade.
A gang that allows no business is hurting the economy of the town, and should get a diminishing chest.
