Title: Alt Clicking Ground To See Stacked Items
Post by: The Lost Children on January 11, 2012, 12:09:57 am
Alt Clicking is the Right-Click of the Fallout universe in that it gives us the physical properties of that hex, or person we're clicking on, much like the Right-Click of the proper PC user.

I suggest the Devs code a way to Alt Click a hex, to see what items and how much of that said item is on the ground.

Perhaps only with the awareness perk?

Discuss.

I find that to be a relatively reasonable suggestion. I like it very much, I have always wondered just how many of what ever item are stacked in a pile, but with a feature like that, no more wondering!

I guess it could go with or without awareness perk. There are always points that people will bring up.

To make it short:
I like it!

To make it a bit longer:
In 2D world, where most weapons and items have same textures and you need to use so called "binoculars" to check what's there, we could also see quantity of that item, it would make things much easier, but it always makes me to smile, when I see bluesuits running to pick-up 1 bottle cap, because they just see "Bottle Caps" in description :D

It should not auto-reveal hidden items- you should have to search for them manually.

The post says nothing about hidden items... a "hidden" item is just an item that the games isometric system was not built to be able to be see items behind a wall... this suggestion clearly says that if you can see an item on the floor (the only way to see an item behind a wall is to be near it) you should be able to view all items in that hex, and the quantities of them.

Noted: change description to "Bottle Cap" if there's only one item in stack.

I should add to the suggestion:

This system should also allow us to pick up particular items from the stack. Too avoid having to scrounge through a stack of garbage to find the item we know is hidden underneath. It is NOTHING but a hassle for people with low carry weight to go through a pile of junk.

So Weapon Handler Tanks have to stay exposed while looting?

Pressing G picks up item on hex you are standing. Maybe there could be CTRL+G which opens dialog like when looting a body where you can choose what you wanna pick up.
