Title: Add workbench to Necropolis
Post by: Desert Mutt on December 24, 2011, 12:22:00 am
Subj.
Add workbench somewhere near water facility outside the vault.

I second this suggestion. What about a Bench with Advanced Tools?

And Necropolis' name isn't actually Dead City, but City of the Dead in Greek. Many dead blue suits... :P

Why not? I suggest upgrading inside all these dungeons - Mariposa, Sierra, Necro Vault, Junkyard.

I like this idea. I always make my crafters with a little bit of fighting skill for small scale pvp. I love those small encounters where you meet someone armed with an smg or something looking to save himself a trip back to the mines. A bench would add the potential for such encounters in Necropolis.

A bit off topic but what is the purpose of this place now? I have been absent much of this session and cant remember anything ever being here. I know in the past there were random events now and then, but what real purpose does this location have?

Sounds good to me. Make it in the Vault or near the church. This isn't going to bring any measurable amount of "life" to this city of the dead, but it would be convenient at least.

Thieves used to love leveling their thief alts using the ghouls. Also, there are the precious purple robes that are now able to be bought. Other than that, the city suits its name quite well.

I see people camping this place, waiting for naive people to come thinking it's safe place to craft advance things  :D.

Sounds cool to me.  Despite how insignificant it seems, just think, of all the possibility.

Of course, only if it has advanced tool workbench, otherwise, whatever bro.

I don't think it should have advanced tool workbench.  Not unless you can get lvl 3 SMG somewhere else.

But BG crafter would use advanced tools bench to make M60 ammo, unless they somehow have access to current location there is nowhere for them to craft it.

Necropolish totally need workbench.
There is players who almost live in there and they need to go another town for crafting something..

Advanced tools would make sense somewhere in BoS bunker, but in Necro?  That's just silly.

Maybe installed by the Master's minions during the Mutant occupation?

Or the ghouls installed it by themselves, they might scavenged it from Glow, along other relics. It could be irradiated, too.

I would have thought that either it was installed in the vault or ghouls scavenged it from somewhere, maybe even traded it. Also BOS bunker should have an extra tools workbench.

Could we learn SMG lvl 3 somewhere else too :P  I don't really want to play a slaver, but you really have no choice if you want to craft lvl 3 SMG's.

You dont need to be a slaver for small guns lvl 3 but you do need to become a raider.

Perhaps a compromise- Necro should get a regular workbench, but Advanced Workbenches should have delicate equipment that needs repair/materials to make it work, as well as power.
(And they would be located at VC Vault, Mariposa, Sierra, Enclave Base, BoS HQ (sattellite bases?), and Necropolis. NCR would have one for its NPCs but not players- maybe you could sneak in.)

Advanced Benches could be chargeable like cars plus you have to add junk, alloy, metal parts, and electronic parts to get it running.

Not a whole lot- say 50 units of power ( 1 per SEC/2 per MFC) for 1-5 craftings, and depositing 6 junk, 4 EP, 3 metal parts, 2 alloys, and 1 Good Metal Part makes the bench functional for 5 minutes Real Time.

Like a crafting vending machine. Materials to fix it up, power to run it.

Just craft fast to make the materials count for more.

Last I heard the only way to get introduced to the raiders was to become a slaver...

You only need to be liked by the slavers for Metzger to give you the info you need. You can easily get on his good side by bringing him the briefcase from Little Jesus in Reno. After that you need to join the raiders.

I'd like more workbnches here and there, multiple per town

I remember the time when i was wandering new alt bluesuit with 6 junk in my backpack looking around San Fran for a workbench to craft a radio... after 10 minutes i've found radio behind some debris but no workbench xD

You guys are getting way off the point by talking about "advanced workbenches" and that. I'm pretty sure the purpose of the thread at the start was just for convenience, as Wallace stated. Just a regular, old workbench so that a person doesn't have to travel to Old Town, Hub if he wants to craft something.

My bad, Abe, i mentioned the adv. workbench first.

So where should the workbench be stationed?

-If it were in the entrance area, players wouldn't bother to enter the inner city.
-If it were somewhere in the backyard, it would take a lot of time to get in there.

So how about the Severs?

I'm all for adding workbenches pretty much anywhere.
