To me, it seems as the best "sniper" weapon but perhaps I'm missing something.

Yes it is, I think... but since this weapon is super rare, not many people know...

It is, but it's not IG, never even seen one given from event, and require a shitload of skill to be used (and therefore a dedicated build). Heard a nerfed version will appear as rare weapon after wipe.

One problem using energy weapons as sniper gear: they leave tracers so your targets see your position. Not good. Otherwise excellent.

Well that is good news. Obviously i have never used one. Found a pistol but assumed it was energy. Thank you for that. Newbie out.

As Crazy said, it's a SG, and so powerful it can't even be given in events...
To be honest, not really a problem for me. All these tier 3 weapons are so out of place in the wasteland :(

Too much New Vegas makes you think the Gauss Rifle belongs to the Energy Weapons class :P
All these tier 3 weapons are so out of place in the wasteland :(

During prewipe madness a few sessions back i had one.I was definately fun to toy with for a while but honestly I'm glad it's not implemented for normal gameplay. It's extremely powerful compared to the current sets of weapons.

Hm... In conclusion, this weapon IS the most powerful sniper weapon around (it's not an Energy Weapon like in Fallout 3) but it is not implemented in the game probably for being too powerful (a nerfed version of it might show up after the wipe). So that pretty much answers my real question and my build is finally complete. Thnx alot guys!

We've given away 2-3 heavily deteoriorated Gauss Rifles as rewards for pretty long events with only small groups. So far I haven't seen people one shooting other players all over the wasteland with it. :)

Well it is an Antique. When you get one you tend to preserve it, not use it to it's destruction.
