Just a random thought I had. Allow certain NPC groups to call in reinforcements. For example, you're fighting Unity Patrol, almost have them finished off when a second group shows up as well. This would only be for the NPC's that typically carry radios.
-
But this could work only if next group will give additional XP points. Because it will be a lot easier if you simply run from first encounter, then FA yourself and start looking for next enc.

Random thought are bad. Please think before you post some idea that is easily abusable/exploitable.

Yeah. Me want endless vs. encounter bos against unity for endless ammo and gunz.
-
Fighting Unity and then PvE artillery barrage emerges somewhere in my encounter. That sounds like fun.

In Soviet Russia, Unity encounters YOU!
-
Not good suggestion :(
This only makes players get more ammo+weapons from caravans or whatever they killing..
-
It would not be an automatic thing. Basically if they carried a radio there'd be a chance that reinforcements would show up. So for your example of BoS vs Unity, you could be taking them both out, have the encounter just about over, when a new squad of BoS shows up. Not BoS AND Unity, just an additional squad of BoS.
-
Given low percentage probability to that happening it would be actually a good entertainment sometimes without abuse
-
I'd also suggest that if your karma is low enough reinforcements show up quicker. Say -5000 or so maybe.

this makes sense there is a higher bounty on you, so there gonna come quickly to pwns you!

If this suggestion gets implemented what will happen to the NPC swarm kind of events? Also as people said, this would mean lotsa l00t, and I don't think it'd be positive to encourage farming.

Military and Hunter/Raider units would or could have a plan set up for reinforcement.
(If they have the extra resources in their faction- they may be spread thin and just can't afford to do this. Or maybe sometimes they can and sometimes they can't- so put in a percent chance of reinforcements being available.)
The same way members of a squad may "leapfrog" between points of cover (and mutual coverage), patrols may do that with each other- over a larger area.
So the other squad/patrol is relatively nearby and can arrive to flank an attacker.
Also, high speed solo scouts/2-3 person teams could call in larger forces with a radio.
I assume this is how Raiders would operate.
Areas where there have been recent engagements could have more frequent patrols (encounter chance) and/or higher chances of reinforcement until the area or interest in the area "cools off".

I like this idea, but this could meen Many many flaws. What if it gliches out and like 3 squads comes and just blow you away.
-If this does get implemented i wouldnt mind seeing a warning sign saying [This Encounter May/May Not (or Will/Will Not) Have reinforcments] - The only way you could opt in is by accepting the encounter or not. (You shouldnt be able to encounter this by it being forced encounter)
-I would see this as a boss battle type deal. Hard to encounter, the Npc's have better hp, and more likely a certain one may or may not have a bettter weapon. - The reinforcements should have around to the same as the current squad that you encountered.
-Well it may be a lot of loot but i think it should be a very rare encounter that is super hard.
-
you opt in by engaging them in battle. Also I see no reason why you'd have an opt out for that... if you can opt out of PvE can I opt out of PvP?
-
i dont think its abusable if it has % chances of happening but it wold be annoying... imagine you are about to finish the last unity guy, you have 20 hp left and you already count the loot in your head but then...TA DAM!!! another squad comes and blows you away. That wold be annoying especially for a loner. The Unity is not a squad of gouls with rocks they are a squad of bad ass mutants with rocket lounchers :)

What if the longer you stayed in battle the higher % that reinforcements would come?

as long as it set so it makes sense for rt/tb.
tb people are usally in enounter for 5min while rt guys are 2-3 at max.
so both limits for thoses must be set.
its not fair for tb guys if they alllways get it and rt guys never do.
-
I would say it is pretty fair not to seperate the timelimits as RT has a much higher chance of dying and a much lower chance of having allies reach you from a radio call whereas TB can run their timer down as their allies come to the encounter.

On another hand, RT is overall more dangerous, and specialized TB build are more effective in TB than RT build are in RT...

I'd say it was something that happens when they first see you. I mean... if you have -15000 rep with them chances are pretty good you've been killing bunches of them and usually living. So when they see you they go "Oh shit it's xxxx" and radio for help. Or not as the case they may be.
