There are usually two reasons people travel on the world map, to get somewhere or to look for encounters. I suggest a Speedy mode that lets people travel faster but has a greater chance of finding an encounter since they are less careful. If people want to avoid encounters they can travel carefully but more slowly.
A balance so its not just faster travel. Speedy mode should still be a faster total travel time even when running from the extra encounters.
Great for new players just trying to get somewhere more easily, or for experienced players trying to grind up some exp or in a rush.

Nice idea! It reminds of an old game called 'Oregon Trail'.
Would this make a total of three travel speeds? (fast, slow and normal)
-
why nobody suggest this before?, its a great idea.
-
Really like this. Just to know, how do i "switch", by a button in World Map or using PIPBoy-Outdoorsman?
-
Well if there were three travel speeds people would only choose two (extreme ones)
Pretty much about enhancing chances for encounters were mentioned before actually but apparently died out
But this is first time about travel speed (or so i believe)

Taxi dual logs with capped od would benefit most from this. Normal players not that much, because if you choose the fast travelling the forced encounters will slow you down so it's actualy not that fast travelling unless you have huge od. And only taxis proxies have big od.

Not true. I'm a loner, and i use only one char, and i can assure you that one-char will be ALOT more happier than taxi alts.

Loner has average od or perhaps no od at all. So if they use this speedy travel, they will drop in forced encounters more often and thus actually reach their destination slower. Taxi will basically never drop in those encs and moves super fast.

I have quite high outdoors. Everything depends on your tipycal character. I personally try to avoid encounters, so i have high outdoors, some might want to encounter more, and keep outdoors low. It's up to you.

If you are in RT you can be out of an encounter in a couple of seconds
-
Right... if lag doesn't kill you
FOnline is running smoothly at my computer but when i try to enter combat in RT i usually load a fine view for my dead and nicely splattered body before i can see any action
Such is the case of many players :p

bummer... whats your HP and where are you playing from?
on the plus side, if this gets implemented you could travel slower and hit fewer encounters...

Central Europe, 82 HP atm
Don't gimme wrong - i like the idea (this one and pretty much older ones considering travel & encounters)

I live in Mexico and there happens a strange thing, sometimes when i get in a RT encounter the NPCs just stand there and i have a easy scape. Other times i spawn being shoted down. Is like throw a coin.
My actual ping is 769

Like the idea! They would probably have to nerf exp. from random encounters. (the ones you can choose not to fight in) With a high outdoorsman, and certain squares giving you almost 100 exp (highest I have encountered was 87? I think) It would make grinding a little too easy.

This would be helpful :D

I'd rather see Catious Nature and Ranger actually WORK.

Same amount of regular encounters. The extra encounters will all be forced.

The speed boost with Real Time mode should be fast enough that it actually is noticeably faster to destination. Takes only a couple seconds to leave an encounter.
Outdoorsman encounter avoiding should not be affected. A taxi will have same amount of regular encounters that are easily avoidable, but the extra encounters are always forced.
