Title: Shift + click to run and use item/skill
Post by: Matej on September 17, 2011, 08:39:51 pm
Hello gentlemen,
While there is an option to always run, for those of who do not use it I think it would be convenient to be able to press shift and right click on a door for example. The character would run to the door and open it, as opposed to having to press shift and right click by the door to run there first, and then have to separately click on the door to open it, since the character will only walk after clicking on a usable item or player/NPC.

That is of course unless there is already a way to do this that I am not aware of, in which case I am super embarrassed.

Is there a single reason why not always run? I know one against it - if you click on a door with always run, your character runs and opens it.

Always running breaks Sneak. Although Shift works for walking then, and I guess I do run more than I sneak.

Because there are people using sneak without silent running perk? oO

Because walking is cool. I'm more walking than running and of course don't have auto-run enabled, the only problem is inability to play HtH/Melee and I have to switch on, but then that's stupid to always run and on reflexes I still pressing shift when I need to run, and on auto-run I'm walking with shift while I need to run, what isn't good. I think when in-game options will be implemented, then there will be no problems to switch between always run on and off, the same as switching TB/RT, etc.
But of course that would be nice to be able to loot/use skill or object holding shift and it'll make your character run, if your "always run" is off.
