For a single person nothing beats gasstation. Everything is close so not too much running around, you have enough containers to keep things organized and nice source of fiber, fruit and meat.

You might find http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Bases to be helpful, friend.

In my opinion if you're looking at a 30K-120K price range, just bump it up 10K and take the 130K outpost. Excluding the bunker because it costs half a million to purchase, the outpost for 130K is vastly superior to all the other bases.

For 30K, it's between the cave of the depot and that's all a matter of opinion. Most people prefer the depot according to the wiki, but I prefer the cave. The depot offers more containers, but the cave has better protection. I suppose if neither of those issues bother you too much, then it comes down to whether you prefer living in a crappy cave in the middle of some mountains or a crappy run down old building in the middle of nowhere. Also you can only get the depot at Klamath which means you're going to be a long way away from everything.

For 50K you can take the gas station or the trapper town. Trapper town is crap don't even bother. Gas station is alright. Its notable feature is it has a farm to harvest fruits and fibers would could be beneficial to you if you use fiber for anything.

For 70K you can take the scrap heap which is essentially an upgraded depot. Whether it's worth the extra 40K to you is up to you. I think if you can afford it, go for it over the depot. It's pretty good.

Long story short, in your price range I'd go for the scrap heap, but personally I'd just save up a little more and get the outpost. It's well worth it.

Tried all the bases, Gas Station is definitely the best one.

Gas Station was my choice

If you are a medic and the base spawn near Vault City it is awesome

and Gas station will look perfect with 5 cars parked

i dont get the buzz gas station gets. it does have fibers, but other than that, depot still leads the way. everything is much closer in the depot, its positioning works great (at least for me), and if not - so what, its 30k man, there is plenty of caps for rerolling.

its basicaly close to the SF - separated by a "highway". klamath mine few feet from your door and redding hq mine too.
if you feel you would miss something from the eastern parts of the wastes, think again. VC is useless beyond medical terminal, bh is just source of cheap raping, ncr is just a chat room with suicide bombing in it. junktown is closed half a day - not that it offers anything at all. hub is good for shuffling boxes and gunrunners were last useful at 1997.

also, if you can't aford a gas station, buy a depo, it has the best quality/price ratio for what i know
and also you can visit klamath for fruits and fibers
