Hi everyone,i was thinking about building a leader char with no compromises towards drugs...(so basically 9 ch and magnetic personality..)
I just don t get how to make him a decent fighter,any suggestion..?

I suspected that,after so much trial and error..having an experienced player confirm that helped a lot,thanks.
If i sacrifice perception(let s say i pick 4),would i be able to compensate it with extreme marksman skill..?

I have one. it's a sg burster, a as you said "DECENT" fighter. Drugs are not necessary.

I don't recommend EW pistoleers. They are only good against leather armor and below otherwise they do very very little damage. (That is if you occassionally use laser). What works for everything is bursting with SG, particularly an assault rifle with AP ammo.

Depends, if you do aimed shot, EW pistols are great. And well, I wouldn't call that a "decent" fighter, but well, you are able to shoot ;p

With only 6 luck your gonna have shit crits, with low intelligence and no extra accuracy from a rifle your gonna have horrible % to hit, and to top it off regular hits will be NOTHING continuosly.
it's simply not gonna work. I suppose a dedicated magneto laser pistol leader build would work to an extent but poorly still.

You know, stuff like jet, or other things like that are hard to get, but if you use mentats and beer you can shave off 3 skill points to any merc leader build, just beer (Which costs 100 caps for a +1 to CH) can save you 1 point.
Really, CH boosting drugs are the easiest to work in to a build for mercs, since mercs count as players for world map travel, and only need 2 CH when you buy them, and if you're dropping over 200k+, mentats should be easy to get.

Merc HP is based on luck, how exactly will it get screwed up by not having 9 CH without drugs? (You will have 9 CH when you buy your mercs w/drugs) unless the boost is based on CH and not luck, or both, either way, 9-10 luck = a good crit chance boost, unless luck is completely useless for mercs it's a good idea to take luck unless you're a slaver mainly.

Even if default charisma of leader does make a little difference for mercenary hp (I haven't noticed that), I would still rather choose 3 extra SPECIAL points for the leader than a few extra hitpoints for mercs...

Oh, since i forgot to mention this before...
If this is a slaver/loner build, forget the luck, and get 9 CH, the only character with a large boost from having high CH is a slaver, since it speeds up the slave farming quite a bit.

oh yeah, no drugs either! ;D (only drug i use with the build is cigs)

If you're going 1hander, just cut INT, if you're a merc leader then you really shouldn't have to worry about FA, so you could shave off 1 or 2 INT points and put them in to ST, otherwise it looks good for a non-druggy, the only shame is the low ST.

it don't know about 4 or below INT, i can get to 201 SG (this much to pull of aimed eye shots with one hander and 4 str with .223 pistol) but barely any for FA or outdoorsman...as for str, you can make a it a drug build, and go 6-7 ch or 6 luck and have 3-4 str.

A friend of mine already tested it out. Apparently he didnt get the boost to HP on his mercs unless he had basic 9 CH.

That is kick ass,but no luck means low hp mercs..pretty bad.But thanks for the tip anyway.

I tested it as well.
I got 100ish HP SG mercs without drugs and 6 CH and 9 luck, and i got 190+ HP mercs with drugs, so that must have been a bug.
